They had only one down year tho -

2018 - 2nd
2019 - 4th
2020 - 6th
2021 - 17th (with a % of 85)
New coach
2022 - 3rd
Didn’t they have a heap of injuries that year as well, plus maybe some unrest with players being shipped out for salary cap reasons?

Adding Daicos helped though.

Hopefully Agents Peatling & Cumming are on the case.
Maybe, I just think there’s a player there with a point of difference and the list team need to be more creative & move away from those run of the mill safe ‘well rounded’ players in that bottom half of the list. Saw a Giants fan say he’s a little soft but I think if you have speed you can afford to be a little soft, if Sholl had speed he’d be a very good AFL footballer and you could overlook the flaws in his game.

Also questioned Fahey’s ability as a lockdown defender but I think that was more due to GWS miscasting him too deep in defence as all footage I’ve seen of him he looked like the quintessential running player but due to their list make up they made him play deep.

As long as he doesn't bring his Hitler costume with him.

Anyone think we are getting Draper the fact players going to Brisbane have nominated but I feel like the crows have asked him to not mention us as it would cause some friction with Rob.
In saying that it’s ridiculous if he doesn’t know Draper isn’t coming already but communicating doesn’t seem like our strong point.

No. The smoke is Brisbane and the smoke is rarely off the mark with FA's at this point.

We probably don't resign Rob if Draper was coming.

We badly need to find a ruckman if we are serious about winning premierships.

Has ROB improved this year - yes, he has learnt to mark the ball
Is ROB guaranteed to get 40+ hitouts every game - yes
Does he do anything with these hitouts - no
Do we get smashed in clearances every week - yes

Not really. For 2025 differentials, we are +0.1 for center clearances, and -1.8 for stoppage clearances. In all honesty, Rob is fine as a cheap ruck option and anyone who thinks you need a good ruck to be a good side hasn't followed this sport in the last two decades.

The bigger problem with our clearance game is we don't have an inside midfielder you can bank on being a 6+ clearance per game player, which is why this group can go cold for a 10 minute stretch against powerful opponents (seeing to play well requires our guys to be playing at the peak of their abilities for longer then what is likely sustainable). That could have been Matt Crouch, but a career ending injury stopped that. Dawson is excellent, but isn't a big clearance player. Soligo hasn't become that guy (though I hold out hope he will), Berry is dead weight beyond two class center clearances a game and Peatling is solid, but really, he's probably a younger Ben Keays where he's better off as a half forward flanker instead of an inside mid. It's what stuffed up Rankine when he was in the midfield, you can't use his outside class/weapons because when he's there, he's our best extractor. It's a bit part midfield that does have class, but is missing the meat and potatoes.

The hope is we have a 197 cm bull on the wing and one who should be pushed to the inside midfield next year. It's too late for this year, but with a preseason, Dan should be ready. Beyond that, we should probably consider reinstating Laird (as Crouch is gone which is what did him in last year) but even then, that's fraught with its own risk (noting it'll be a 33 year old 270 game player and the end can come quickly with the mileage in Rory's legs) or we really need to be hitting the market for someone. Draper won't be ready to fill this void for another couple of years, seeing he's probably 7ish kg underweight as a guess.

Smith? They can’t be serious. Let’s debut Edwards and Ryan in 2027.

Clearance of the remainder of the dead wood. Maybe?

Crows could look to make minimal changes this year. Removal of some deadwood and some of the rookie list as well. Smith may well be asked to stay on as an emergency. I agree though our priorities should lie with Draper, Dowling, Edwards and Ryan and any draftees making a case.

I would not be shocked at all if we go into the draft with minimal draft selections this year.

If we could get bailey, ahchee and maybe butler without losing anyone of note, we have most certainly improved our floor again bigly

If we trade anyone in smith should go. If we don't then I'm not against it as an emergency. Be pissed though if he is promoted ahead of players needing games.

Murphy, shoenberg, smith, burgess and maybe tex (but only if we win the flag) will be headed out i suspect. Sholl i think will be traded. Thats my best guess

I’d be as shocked as by any trade in recent memory if we were able to land Bailey this year. Brisbane would probably bet on convincing him to stay rather than taking a pick in the 20’s + our F1
