We had 2 which was pushed out by a PP for Gold Coast

Mutineer has the facts
No we had pick 3, Melbourne had that tanking year and somehow finished lower than Carlton which was some feat and had pick 2...but Melbourne were wedded to Luke Jackson froma long way out. So we would have had Noah Anderson running around in our midfield but for the AFL f**king us over with that garbage PP to Gold Coast

I reckon Noah Anderson would be more valuable to us than Fischer McAsey?

Ahh yes Luke Jackson - cheers

What can we realistically trade to the Saints for Dodson?

Give ROB next season (while Dodson builds up his body a bit more) than trade him out for whatever we can get.

It was an example, but yes I'd also rather keep Butts. It was more a "I doubt we're going to be tight for list spots" example.
After last night, I'd trade Keane instead of Butts. Not because he was pantsed by Gunston - many players better than him have been. But more because of the 2 shovels/throws (1 called on the wing, 1 wasn't called near the goal square) towards the end of the game. That screams to me mental weakness and a "me first" attitude.

Can you trust a guy like this the next time the heat is on? I rather play with a guy who knows his limitations and only tries 20m passes but can blanket even the best forwards, than a guy who gives up a goal or 2 every second game trying to hit Hollywood passes that aren't in his kit bag, and drops his bundle when the going gets tough.

I wanted to trade Keane at the end of last year when it was rumoured that Collingwood was offering a 1st rounder. Now that he is an AA squad defender and probably on a reasonable $, long-ish term contract, we sure should be able to command a 1st for him?

We just need a player in the middle that can get their hands on the ball.

Oliver averaged 26 touches a game this year (and got 30 against Collingwood… wouldn’t that be nice!). He’s only 28. Id back him back under Burgess to get back to quality even if it’s not top 3 players in the league.

I’m not saying we should use a first round pick. A second rounder with Melbourne paying $500k would do it.

  • Oliver
  • Zac Bailey
  • Ah Chee
  • Goad or Dodson

The last two less important.

Murphy, Smith, Shoenberg all gone. Crouch retired. Is Jones contracted? If not, delist.

I’d let Walker go around again if he wants but only play home games. Find that second/third tall in away games.
Walker gets you goals if the ball comes to him on the lead but his defensive deficiencies cost you just as much these days as defenders just walk around him. Time to move on …. give Curtin that much ball up fwd and he’ll kick just as much. Van Berlin was a deer in headlights with no awareness and vision and we have him coaching the mids. Replace him and our SANFL coach

I don't know how many times I have to say it, but the AFL didn't **** us over. We ****ed ourselves (or, more specifically, Ogilve) by picking McAsey over an array of talent like Serong, Young, Pickett and the home-grown Day (despite his injury concerns now).

Day and Pickett were considered relative reaches at the time, particularly Pickett.

Young however was long seen as a possible number one pick and did little wrong in his draft year. He was a lay-up.

Please clarify why Borlase needs to be upgraded. I thought it was 3 years on Rookie list.

Absolutely would trade Max, a dour defender…. Not fast and has little X factor just disciplined

Max is far from a dour defender. He can intercept mark, run and carry, has composure and is a very good kick.

He doesn’t have real X factor, but he is so much more than a simple lockdown defender. If he was freed up to play more as a loose interceptor/distributor type I think he would thrive in that role, he’s just more valuable in his current position.

The off season becomes all eyes on Mids, no excuses we have to get at worst a B+ mid and some speed across the board. Same old we needed years ago.
Dogs, suns and Swans will all
Be better next season so if we don’t improve we will be botttom half of the 8 easily.

Does anyone have a rumour of a player coming?
achee sounds promising

Young is struggling to get on the park now isn't he?

I daydream occassionally that instead of splitting 4 for McAsey and Pedlar we managed to turn it into Day and Pickett.

Totally agree but not sure there are even many B+ mids around.

We need to careful we don't follow a path many other clubs have of bringing in lots of b grade or less talent. Eventually you just become an even more average but older team than we were.

I think we need to keep hitting the draft and hope Draper, Dowling and Curtin get better

If we convinced Richards to come here and the Bulldogs wanted picks and Michalanney I'm doing the deal, but if they asked for Thilthorpe I'm saying no

That to me means Michalanney is tradeable
We are not trading Max.
