Still think Thilthorpe ahead of Ben King on total output

1. Thilthorpe, 2. Treacey, 3. King

Hogan hasn't played enough games. Georgiades, Walker and Cameron next

Holmes has had too many poor games.

Cameron's numbers look good, but the amount of times he stuffs up plays is unbelievable. Mannagh probably needs a couple more games, since he started late.

It'd likely be Smith and Dangerfield in a rolling 44 as far as Cats players.

De Koning not in the squad is... Interesting... 21 coaches votes from the ruck and every chance to get another handful tomorrow.

Tough year for rucks - he needs a scalp if he wants to get in, instead of flat tracking C Grade ruckman whilst getting beaten by the AA contenders.

Guthrie would be in the squad. Holmes isn’t. Agreed there.

Agreed with the Pies in the squad, though Jamie Elliott is closing fast and in consideration for the squad.

I'd be gobsmacked if there was only one KPD in the squad at this point. And only 8 out of 44 defenders.

My team at this point:

FB: Nick Vlaustin - Jacob Weitering - Callum Wilkie

HF: Toby Greene - Riley Thilthorpe - Jack Higgins
FF: Paul Curtis - Ben King - Josh Treacy
OB: Tristan Xerri - Connor Rozee - Bailey Smith

For Brisbane McCluggage over Ashcroft. Actually probably Andrews over him too. Ashcroft has had a couple of down games and would be our 3rd or 4th mid in terms of performance this year

Richards is likely a placeholder for Bontempelli. Rankine and Dawson are other contenders for that spot. Butters line ball based on games played, but just barely qualifies for rolling team status now IMO. King and Anderson could be considered unlucky, but Gold Coast have mostly played witches hats so far. McCluggage has dropped off a bit. Josh Daicos and Amon are difficult to split. Newcombe, Serong and Merrett thereabouts. JHF probably one good game away despite having a couple of absolute stinkers.

Dawson shouldn't be in consideration. His form since round 2 vs Essendon has deteriorated rapidly and has become a turnover merchant.

McCluggage, Sidebottom, N. Daicos, Brayshaw, Serong, Holmes, Hewett, Newcombe Merrett, Smith, Anderson, Rowell and Butters should all be ahead of him as mids.

It’s quite hard giving some of the top sides enough credit because they have had such an even contribution. I found it hard to fit in enough of the dogs, hawks and pies I sort of had to force it a bit as they deserve to have at least a couple.

Correct. The 7th-13th type teams at the moment are being carried by a few stars, relative to the top 4 sides. My side rewarded a few 50/50 options based on standing up against quality opposition.

It's interesting that Hawthorn are top 4 (a win clear of 5th) and I don't think anyone would be in contention for a rolling AA 22 at this point.

Very even contribution and having a better bottom 6-10 than most rather than star players being the main reason.

I've long argued that as recognition of individual performance, AA teams should pay little to no attention to ladder position (including when Hawthorn were poor) and it would be hypocritical for me to suggest otherwise now that we are we are going well. None of this "team A is top 2/4/8, so deserve X spots in the AA team" - just pick who the best individual players have been for their position, rather than penalising them for having inferior team mates.

Yeah this year has been more of an even contribution, more of the bottom half of our 22 are in really good form guys like Gunston, Morrison while our top end guys whilst still contributing are mostly out of form or not playing at the AA level currently.

Gunston strangely enough would be our closest, he has also left alot of goals on the table if he had converted would generally be in the discussion but I don't expect this form to last the season, would love it if it did though. Amon is another who's first few weeks were elite but been a bit quieter over the last few and is about to miss some games with concussion.

Day obviously was the one that looked like he was shaping to potentially be in this discussion as the year progresses. Newcombe though has lifted over the past few weeks and if this form continues is our best shot at making the squad imo.

It’s amazing how someone who looks like such a beautiful kick turns it over a shitload this year.
