Your 3 kpd arent doing enough..Sam Taylor is #1 by a long way. Idun is worthy also. See my scores on previous page

Hasn’t he only played 3 games?
You can poll 10 x 10 AFLCA but if you miss the other half of the season you won’t get in.
We know the cut-off is around 16/17 games played. If he plays the rest of the year he should make it but can see him being lineball right now over guys who have played every game (even if they have had a down game or 2 - they at least have played).

Yes but this is a rolling AA so we are judging on the first 7 games
Butters has played 3 that’s why he is missing from most posters Rolling AA team

I'd be gobsmacked if there was only one KPD in the squad at this point. And only 8 out of 44 defenders.
I realized after putting the squad together that I was definitely short on KPDs

In that case I would probably change it to have Sam Taylor ahead of Finn Callaghan.

Nick Vlastuin and Darcy Moore are also putting their hands up.

I would've even considered Aliir but I think he's just dropped one too many intercept marks the last couple of weeks.

The last two are literally examples of players benefitting from the other one getting attention.

And Ablett was just stat padding for a large chunk of his career while his team got slaughtered week in week out.

Pre-injury Ablett rankings for contested possessions after leaving Geelong:

2011: #2
2012: #3
2013: #2
2014: #1

Hell even post injury Ablett still managed:

#11th in 2016 at 32
#9th in 2017 at 33

Can go back to his time at Geelong if you want.

#3 in 2010
#1 in 2009
#3 in 2008
#7 in 2007

So, ah, yeah, the stat padding of Ablett can be summarised by 7 seasons as one of the 3 highest contested ball winners in the competition, both with one of the best, and worst midfields in the competition, and another two seasons in the top ten, and another one spot outside it, and two of those seasons came after a near career ending injury. You need to think harder.

At the end of round 7 Gawn has Xerri covered.

More disposals (140-118), more hitouts, more marks (34-13), over 4 times as many contested marks (14-3), many more score involvements (54-34), and goal assists. And, as usual, Xerri has him for tackles (15-36) and clearances (38-44).

Gawn has received votes in the AFLCA award 4 times to Xerri's 3, although it is close 23-21.

I know many want old man Gawn's reign to come to an end, but you've actually got to take it off him. Xerri had a great game against Gawn but one game isn't enough.

Unfortunately for the Xerri lovers he's just not athletically equipped to do the things Gawn does. He's a bit of a lumberer.

Gawn's a freak. He pips Cox as the best ruckman of the AFL era IMO.

Xerri had a couple of injury interupted games he's played through, he's firing back up.

And in fairness, he did take it off him.

He absolutely kicked Gawn's ass, that will count later in the year.

You are putting plenty of mayo on that post by selective stats.

You didn't mention hitouts to advantage, hitouts to adv %, goals, CP's and all the rating formats......unsurprisingly.

I did a basic assessment and didn't even look at that site.

And when one ruck has kicked 2 goals to zero it's hardly worth mentioning LOL. Gawn has had 6 shots at goal to Xerri's 2, but his set shots are worse than usual.

Gawn wins more ruck contests and this year Xerri has a few percentage points better to advantage. Whoopi do.

Yes Xerri beat him well, just as Grundy pantsed Xerri. I'm still taking Xerri over Grundy.

Gawn gets to play the big oaf again at the G, so we'll see then.

But if you use the simple eye test you'd see one ruck is miles better than the other. And it aint Xerri.

I guess it's easy to choose when you don't have to pick defenders. 🤣
