Here is the current top 20 for 6 games or more by average.

Merret is NOT a standout number one. He's not a lock at this stage.

OK, so here were the results for today's game, It was a really good game for Merrett, but NOT to the level that would guarantee him the first position in the side.

69 is a really solid score, but a number of other mids are also scoring the same, and Brayshaw has averaged more over his 7 games.

This takes into account ALL relevant stats weighted on previous elite games.

This is why stats aren't always accurate to me. Do we take into account that Xerri was versing a guy who could barely stand for half of the game? But I guess that's not Xerri's fault so idk... But surely Merrett gets more coaches votes than Xerri.

The system I built is fairly comprehensive but how deep do you want to go? At the end of the day the metrics that count are the ones that lead to scores, and that's how you win games. Xerri is obviously going to score well because he does a lot around the ball. He's a very dynamic ruck. My argument is that the stats show how important he is to building that Kangaroos side. Without him, they're toast.

His hitouts to advantage are the starting point to the mids moving the ball inside 50. This isn't supercoach, nor is it dream team. The system doesn't award points for nothing disposals.

FWIW Merrett has had the highest score of 94 points this season in one game, Will day had 91, and Rowell 90. Merrett's 94 came with high disposals, a lot of forward entry and 4 goals so that was an elite game.

Thats a fair call, 4 vs Andy, he probably would struggle.

There's a compound effect. You take Serong out, all of a sudden you can sit on Brayshaw and his disposal efficiency drops. Young doesn't get as much of the ball, or Young plays more midfield, but then you sit on Young instead and he has no effect on the game.

Then you have to rely on O'Meara.

You have LDU as fourth.

Caddy is not even in your top 20. Daniel is. No, just no.

Do you count the disposals that lead to opposition scores?

Do you track the disposals that a player's opponent lead to scores?

Oh so you are saying Serong is the best players in the game as he gets tagged most weeks and still produces quality, fair enough!

You may be saying this in jest, but it is such a true statement.

Not enough credit is given to the players who get tagged week in, week out, are still able to perform at a consistently high level, but most importantly free up their teammates to perform with a lot more freedom.

I think Serong is the player who receives the second most attention in the competition.

He sucked!

Where did I say he would play well every week?

He sucked for a fair bit last year as well.

Serong was much worse tonight though.
Fremantle got smashed all over the ground. Their issues run deep. St Kilda absolutely destroyed them tonight. Macrae had the 3rd best game for mine this season and has two of the top 10 scores so far. He's still underrated, and as much as I like Kane Cornes, he's wrong about Macrae.

His game was elite tonight. I think the 3rd most contested ball for a Saint EVER

It's still early days and some players start off strong. One bad game from Brayshaw and he's dropped off. Take it as it is given we aren't even half way but Macrae moves up a fair bit with another solid game

Here's how tonights performance stacked up against some of the previous elite games. 90.5 is pretty solid.

Sigh, Massive game from the Dogs today, some super huge scores.

English with the highest score for the season, absolutely made Sweet look like a local grade footballer. English making a claim for a spot with that performance, and Bont continuing to show why he is one of the best in the business.

Cal Wilkie surely. Absolutely obliterated Treacy, keeping him to just 6 disposals, and goalless for the first time since 2023, while having 24 disposals (@83% DE), 14 marks, 8 intercepts and 7 score involvements himself.
