I wasn’t implying it was unreasonable if that’s the way it was taken 👍
Ah my mistake, have end of week brain already.

I like your thinking that Ryan could be a short term replacement for Bobby, though I don't think he'd be a priority for us. I suspect we'd be looking at midfield options and back in Harvey Harrison to fill the small forward void.

I suspect we'll be after draft picks to flip for a player.

Hey Pies,

Just wondering where the board sits with Bobby Hill (don’t need to discuss the details) and Darcy Cameron potentially heading back to WA?

WCE have put a big contract to Cameron which is the only reason he’s likely to consider leaving but have absolutely no idea about Hill staying or going.

We’ve got the Hawks draft picks this year so goodluck tonight.

Rucks don't usually command the same trade equity as other players, I can't think off the top of my head the last traded ruckman who at the time was top 4 in their position. There's been plenty of decent rucks go for picks well outside the top 10. Cameron is also no spring chicken but has been durable and should play for another 4-5 years. Given the age profile of the Eagles list it seems odd they're targeting Cameron, outside of the fact he's from WA.

He's certainly not worth Reid plus pick 1. He's not worth pick 1. He's not worth Harley Reid as a straight swap, would think if Reid is involved it would require us attaching an asset. I'd value him as worth around pick 10 plus an additional late first round pick.

I realise I’m not going to be popular. But unfortunately for us I can’t see Cameron netting us anything more than pick 10-15.

If we could somehow get picks 14 and 32 (to help with our points) it wouldn’t be ideal, but I think that we would take it.

Hawthorn R1 + Ryan for Cameron (only in the event that Bobby also requested a trade).

That gets the job done if the club rate Ryan. They may not because our game plan is built on pressure and Ryan doesn’t project as playing a long career.

I'd be more interested in someone like Campbell Chesser - the kid has had a number of injury issues, but he can play.

And who rucks next year?
Draper = Bris
Obrien = Adel
TDK = Stk
Marshall = Geel
Reeves = Carlton?
Moyle = GC

Do we chase a flag with Smit, Steene or a Soldo type?

I think realistically next year might be a mini reset where we slide a bit before a big off season end of 26 (oldies retire etc) crack at couple of FA’s with cash, and another sustained crack

Only if Draper goes to Adelaide.
If Draper goes to Brisbane to replace Big O (degenerative back is the rumour).

Plus O'Brien has re-signed therefore a trade is required now rather than a free agent.
We're ****ed then. Best thing is to hold Cameron to his contract

Time will tell but if we are going for a reset then Checkers, Elliott, WHE, etc. should be told to explore their options.

this is my thinking, so its all chips in

mini rebuild over the next 2-3 years, then have another serious strike again
Naicos will still be only 26, but all these kids we have picked up over the past 3-5 years should have close to 60 games under their belt by then plus any FA we can scoop up

It's more than possible if both parties want it. There's also the deception by Adelaide to re sign him without telling him they would chase the hillbilly from essendon

that would be the biggest turnaround in such little time for ages
but any internal problems would be good , they have had a dream run this year

I think there was one not long ago that had signed a one year extension and then got traded. O'Brien's video yesterday suggests he's not happy

Not a cliff. But with cox, whe, sidey, pendles, Howe, checkers, Elliot, Mitchell etc we do need to get on the front foot. But we can walk and chew gum at the same time as we’ve always done

Yeah I agree. I just think the moment you talk "reset" you're basically saying 2-3 years of not contending, at best. With the Devils coming in, and the compromised drafts, that could easily be a cliff.

Jay Clark reporting that Silvagni has met with the Dons.
Sounds like a perfect destination for a player wanting to move to a successful club with a strong culture.

Well we would only entertain a bobby trade if he requested it, and we wouldn’t stand in his way given his circumstances. Having said that, we will be tough but fair when it comes to his negotiations because he is a game changer who simply doesn’t grow on trees. He by himself is worth a top 10 pick and then some.

His age is another reason as to why his trade value will be very high.

Now if you want cameron who is a top 5 ruck and someone who is still in the peak of his powers, it will also cost a pick that is very close to the top 10.

Before you say that is a high price for a ruck, he isn’t just a ruck, he is one of the best if not the best intercepting ruck in the competition.

Now if you want both combined - well it is either harley reid and some change or pick 2 and something else.
Agree with almost everything you said except the last bit.

If the eagles want both Bobby and DC, it's Harley Reid and change, OR pick 2, another early first round pick (can be between 10-15), a second round pick and we can exchange later picks if needed

Reckon Clayton Oliver to the Cats is almost a done deal this season. Oliver will agree to rip up his current deal to get the trade done
