I would be staggered if he wasn’t a restricted free agent.
Yep and if Gold Coast make finals next year and can afford to match any rival offer I'd be surprised if they don't force a trade for a better return than a single compo selection.
Unlikely to be another Tom Lynch like situation when pick 3 was on offer as compensation.
Not if they don’t have the cap room

Another 3 top 10 picks this year. They are going to have player retention issues in a couple of years you’d think. Think 3/4 of the bloody team is first round picks! They only have 6 players in the top 100 highest paid players. Assume they have the room
The average is 5.5 (100/18) and I assume some players are still on overs. Mac Andrew, Rowell and King would all be on $1.2-1.3m+

Nick - 1m - 1.1mMy point is that, outside of Daicos (who I rekon is on $1.2m post cba increase) the next highest paid player on the list would be maybe Darcy Moore on $950k, with De Goey, Houston, J.Daicos on less then $900k.
Whereas with Gold Coast (and many other teams) they could have 5 players on $1.2m+ (Rowell, Anderson, King, Andrew).
Yeah at some point, like gws, they’ll struggle to keep them allAnother 3 top 10 picks this year. They are going to have player retention issues in a couple of years you’d think. Think 3/4 of the bloody team is first round picks!
Is Erasmus still out of contract? Reminds me of lipinski with a higher ceiling?
Erasmus and Davies would be at the top of my list for cheapish (2nd/3rd round) recruits.
Plus he has a cool name.Yea Erasmus is class
They still got the win but I don't think he touched it in the 2nd halfForget Sam Flanders, Alex Davies a much better player.
Should be all over him if he is still looking to leave.
Nah. Brodie is a warrior but he’s increasingly getting banged up, I feel like the end could come very quickly for him at this point. Happy for him to cash in if he gets a big offer elsewhere. McStays current form is no good but when he’s on he straightens us up like no other player in the 22 right now.I'd definitely prefer to keep Brody than McStay.
Yea Erasmus is class

I’m well off the Flanders bandwagon after tonight. Either he’s checked out or he’s not up to finals intensity. Davies being much better isn’t much to write home about…Forget Sam Flanders, Alex Davies a much better player.

Yeah, he didn't impress too much tonight for me. Let's bring Murphy Reid home!I’m well off the Flanders bandwagon after tonight. Either he’s checked out or he’s not up to finals intensity. Davies being much better isn’t much to write home about…

I’m just quoting what was said in the HS article in the top 100Think your numbers might be a bit off. But in summary, I think Gold Coast would have 4 players (Andrew, Rowell, Anderson, King - all $1.1 to $1.4m) on well more than our second highest contract (Darcy Moore at circa -$1m who only has 2 years left) which overall prob takes another $1.2m off the table.
Gold Coast:
-
- Andrew ($1.3m)
- Rowell ($1.4m in 2026)
- Anderson (Cant be on much less than Rowell - say $1.2m)
- King (signed a 2-year extension at $1m+)
- Miller ($800k estimate
- Rioli ($800k+)
- Collins/Ballard/Flanders/Ainsworth/Noble - $650k+
Collingwood:
- N.Daicos (Reportedly under $900k when extensions was signed 2 years ago, prob upto $1.1m+ now)
- Moore ($900k 3 years ago so maybe $1m now)
- Perryman ($850k)
- De Goey ($800k we played hardball and he took a modest contract)
- J.Daicos (Also reportedly signed for unders at the time, $750k)
- Houston ($750k reported took a modest contract at the time)
- Cameron ($850k)
- Maynard/Crisp - $700k
- Mihochek/McStay/Hill/Schultz - $650k
Anyway, we will never know for sure.

Don’t think Mac’s contract starts til next year
Next year would be different but for 2025 not so much
Surely not, he has single handidly kept us competitive in the aerial contests for the past 5 years!Anyone hearing Mihocek to Dees?
Jen, I realise nobody knows for sure what it is, but do we have any idea what we are still paying Grundy and Treloar and when that will end?Nick - 1m - 1.1m
