I’m still shocked that we kept both Steene and Smit despite how tight we are for list spots.

Are you saying he has proven himself in defence in those 3 games? But your earlier claim of “completely unproven” becomes “unproven”.
clearly rate them highly. And very highly in terms of Oscar giving him 2 years. Had other clubs coming for him I'm toldI’m still shocked that we kept both Steene and Smit despite how tight we are for list spots.
Yep, club must love them!clearly rate them highly. And very highly in terms of Oscar giving him 2 years. Had other clubs coming for him I'm told
Smit a rookie, and has a good athletic profile, for a 20 year old. I can see why they gave him another year

Same for every other club with no confirmation on their players. In 3-4 weeks we will be into the trade period![]()
Yeah next year could be different, but felt we might have been a bit stagnant this year given most of our OOC players were senior players they want to keepYep, club must love them!
Seems like we may just take our draft picks and back in our list for next year. Maybe bring some money forward and pay guys early to free up some salary at the end of next year to pursue a FA or two
I can dream about adding all of Condon, King and Butters next year![]()
Sorry Mr Lucas, you're client is due the old age pension. He has one year on the table. Take it or leave it.If I am Brodie or Jamie’s manager, I’d be saying, “oi, all that cap space you set aside for Silvagni, I’ll have me some of that thanks”.
Were you asleep for the first few rounds of this year?Reef is completely unproven as a defender at this point in time. We may be better off or we may not be. He hasn't played a single game in the AFL as a defender yet.
Adam Treloaris on the verge of signing a new one-year deal with the Dogs in coming weeks in a move sure to thrill club supporters given his popularity as a 2024 All Australian.PLAYERCARDSTART1Adam Treloar

PLAYERCARDEND
Recalled last week, Wil Parker has ticked over a trigger to play on in 2026 and sub Roan Steele remains on his six-month deal as a mid-season draftee but should win a new deal.
Seems to me most of the Sully naysayers came around to appreciating him by the time he was injured.Finn is younger, taller, bigger body, very good both sides, great hands in tight.
Finn has been injured most of this season- so we had no choice but to play Sully.
You forget the calls for Sully to be delisted this time last year
Elliott is notorious for signing last minute. If Checkers wants to go then good luck to him. Just means we’ll be getting games in to West a little quicker. It's not exactly great signs is it that we're this late in the season and Elliott and Mihocek still haven't re-signed?
I see some have become a bit blase about whether Mihocek in particular stays or goes at the end of the season.
I don't really get that, he remains our best tall forward option and I imagine no one has kicked more goals for us between 2018 and now.
If we want to remain in contention next season it's going to be awfully hard to do if one or both of our 2025 leading goal kickers aren't at the club.
Then we have Hill and the great unknown about his situation.
No hate, I dont mind him, he tries hard but Id much rather we put more games into Allan and give HDM a shot, see if he is going to be ok or not. Im with manicpie I think HDM can be a player.Seems to me most of the Sully naysayers came around to appreciating him by the time he was injured.
14 games played this year for 2 losses.
He might not be a worldbeater but he slots into the team, the boys love him and he gives 100% every time he's on the ground. He tackles, harasses, assists goals and sneaks the odd one.
Agree. Decent athlete. Medium defender not a real difficult position to play.Similar doubts about, Frampton, JD, Murphy, Long - and now plenty of egg masks on many here.
The kid has all the necessary attributes, to make it.
They are in their last year or so.If I am Brodie or Jamie’s manager, I’d be saying, “oi, all that cap space you set aside for Silvagni, I’ll have me some of that thanks”.
I had really high hopes for Ed, still haven't given up on him but at times he looks like a bystander. No hate, I dont mind him, he tries hard but Id much rather we put more games into Allan and give HDM a shot, see if he is going to be ok or not. Im with manicpie I think HDM can be a player.
Ed just needs a big pre season. Maybe put on a bit of muscle to get his confidence levels up a bit. Definitely needs a bit of mongrelI had really high hopes for Ed, still haven't given up on him but at times he looks like a bystander.
He doesn't seem to want to commit his body at times and at times panics when he has the ball and just wants to get rid of it, no matter where.
I realize he's only 21 and can improve out of sight.
As others have said, he could do with getting a touch of mongrel into his game.
Yeah I agree, I think he needs a confidence booster though. He is usually first dropped when we have a healthy list. We have seen he can be an influential player, just needs another pre season and a "youre in for the next 6 games mate, show us what you have" chat I reckon. Unfortunately mongrel cant be taught, you either have it, or you dont.I had really high hopes for Ed, still haven't given up on him but at times he looks like a bystander.

Hes shown glimpses of brilliance but then goes missing. This is normal for young players but its nearly time to put the big boy pants on for Ed. Fingers crossedYeah I agree, I think he needs a confidence booster though. He is usually first dropped when we have a healthy list. Just my 5 cents, but I reckon he looks a bit filthy when he gets subbed out and then dropped. Hope he sticks it out.Hes shown glimpses of brilliance but then goes missing. This is normal for young players but its nearly time to put the big boy pants on for Ed. Fingers crossed
Next year will be his 4th pre season. I'm not sure I have ever seen him run flat out, he seems to just lope along.Ed just needs a big pre season. Maybe put on a bit of muscle to get his confidence levels up a bit. Definitely needs a bit of mongrel

Something Americans with small willys hold up in their hilllbilly profile pictures?Next year will be his 4th pre season. I'm not sure I have ever seen him run flat out, he seems to just lope along.
Anyway, I hope next year he becomes a real gun.( whatever that is![]()
There might come a time as supporters we need to accept players for who they are, even if we may want certain traits in them; it may not be who they are as players. Accept their strengths and weaknesses.I had really high hopes for Ed, still haven't given up on him but at times he looks like a bystander.

In all fairness, he did play a block of consecutive games this year, as well as other games.Yeah I agree, I think he needs a confidence booster though. I didnt think he was that awesome in round 17..In all fairness, he did play a block of consecutive games this year, as well as other games.

I agree with what you are saying even if it migtht not seem like that to you. There might come a time as supporters we need to accept players for who they are, even if we may want certain traits in them; it may not be who they are as players. Accept their strengths and weaknesses.
It just what it is. Not all players are the same.
