Smit is highly rated at the club. Not lumbering. I think he's physically impressive, but i think he's got the opposite of a footy brain.
I’m sure Macrae was as well jmac. I’d love him to become a player, as it stands his skills seem a long way off. He’s got a season to prove me wrong.Smit is highly rated at the club.
No Guarantee Fin will still be on our list last seasonI’m sure Macrae was as well jmac. I’d love him to become a player, as it stands his skills seem a long way off. He’s got a season to prove me wrong.

His attack on the ball is what impresses the most. That fits in well with our game plan.I’m sure Macrae was as well jmac. I’d love him to become a player, as it stands his skills seem a long way off. He’s got a season to prove me wrong.
McCarthy is basically the same height but moves like a midfielder. He is one I’m excited about
He won’t be TDNo Guarantee Fin will still be on our list last season
Tank yes - speed no.Whe could run with him
Definitely Smit - huge leap and agilityWould the new ruck rules suit someone like Smit and/or Steene?
I can see what they like. Powerful and aggressive. But he makes Krueger look like a football genius. His attack on the ball is what impresses the most. That fits in well with our game plan.
He just needs some simple instructionsI can see what they like. Powerful and aggressive. But he makes Krueger look like a football genius.
Steene yes. He can jump, but he gets monstered under the current rules where strong blokes can just take away his leap.Would the new ruck rules suit someone like Smit and/or Steene?

Sully may be delisted, Sully may continue to get games and improve. The list spot crunch this year may be a quick end. List improvement can be brutal. He still might be delisted
I'd already addressed that without requiring your usual sarcastic dribble. Were you asleep for the first few rounds of this year?
Lets be clear. I didn't moderate my view. I admitted I didn't get the timing of Reef's ACL injury correct. I'll get the hangmans noose so you can feel better. No - simply that you’ve moderated your view, after you were presented with some facts you weren’t aware of.
I Agree with you. 3 games is hardly enough to make a judgement. 3 fairly average games by AFL standards. To me reef is a bonus if he becomes a good player but I'm hanging my hopes on him to come in and be the next Howe. I'd wait and see how he goes next year before making a decision on him.Lets be clear. I didn't moderate my view. I admitted I didn't get the timing of Reef's ACL injury correct. He played a few early games & has had no time to confirm or deny if he will be the answer in defence. Why is that so hard to deal with?
Some people on this forum just love to argue for the sake of it. I wasn't potting the guy. Simply saying his position is far from guaranteed. He may be a world beater & he may be a flop. Until we get meaningful data that can't be answered yet.
Anyone would think I called for his delisting or worse.
Absolutely. He has a contract for next year as far as I know & should be good to go early next season. We will hopefully have more info then. But we can't guarantee he will kill it in defence.Time will tell.I Agree with you. 3 games is hardly enough to make a judgement. 3 fairly average games by AFL standards. I have him as depth at this stage. I'm not saying he won't be any good but it's like anything else, you'd like to see a lot more before considering him a lock for next yearAbsolutely. I watch every VFL - and I see a player who is constantly trapped because he’s so dominant on his left side, and gets caught or turns the ball over.Serious VFL watchers seem to appreciate HDM more than many. I’m not convinced yet, but can see potential. We need games into our fringe players, a huge gap in games played is not good.
what could have been ...we could have drafted Morris freijah collard mannagh etcI watch every VFL - and I see a player who is constantly trapped because he’s so dominant on his left side, and gets caught or turns the ball over.
HDM had a penetrating kick and speed but the issues above are a major reason why I doubt he makes it.
Keays at Adel is similarly constrained and was delisted by BNE, but his left side dominance still plagues him.

I don’t dwell on selections - there are probably a larger number we could have taken that have failed - swings and round about. That’s why people call the draft a lottery.what could have been ...we could have drafted Morris freijah collard mannagh etc
Sullivan is quicker off a step, a better tackler, a better ball winner in tight, a better goal kicker and has better performances in the AFL side.Finn is younger, taller, bigger body, very good both sides, great hands in tight.
Finn has been injured most of this season- so we had no choice but to play Sully.
You forget the calls for Sully to be delisted this time last year.
I’m in the camp of he won’t, but he only needs to be better than Dean in order for us to improve next year. Unfortunately I don’t think he’s good enough overhead to become a permanent fixture in a contending team without injuries.Absolutely.
