Sullivan is quicker off a step, a better tackler, a better ball winner in tight, a better goal kicker and has better performances in the AFL side.

You forget there were also calls to delist Finn this time last year.

Only agree with the side step.
Finn is great in tight with great hands. Sully is not a better tackler compared to Finn who has a bigger body.
Sully isn’t as proficient on both sides as Finn.
And being 4 years younger Finn has more upside.
With the same extended AFL time as Sully got this year I think Finn would prove himself.

The difference between Sullivan and Macrae and why one has a future and the other won’t is that Sullivan can play multiple roles and Macrae’s a mid.

If by some miracle Macrae survives who’s he going past in year 6 that he’s currently a long way behind for a midfield role?

I don’t dwell on selections - there are probably a larger number we could have taken that have failed - swings and round about. That’s why people call the draft a lottery.

Our savvy trading is what’s kept us where we are.
Our use of early picks had been quite poor for a long time now.

Fin is decent in tight at VFL level but get monstered at AFL level which is the relevant part. Even at VFL level though Sullivan is a more dominant mid.

Bigger body doesn’t equal better tackler and I’m quite sceptical of that claim. Fin has height but he’s quite skinny for his height compared to most inside mids and doesn’t have the composure or footskills to make up for it. Sullivan would need to bulk up a fair bit to be an AFL mid but his body is a lot more proportionate for someone of his height playing as a defensive forward compared to Fin playing as an inside mid.

Fin might be better on his opposite side but he’s not particularly damaging by foot for that to even matter.

HDM is also 4 years younger than Fin. Maybe we should just cut Fin and develop HDM?

The only people in football media that are pushing Elliott to Gold Coast are employed by the Herald Sun. Make of that what you will.

Elliott grew up in Mackay, which is about a 12 hour drive from the Gold Coast, so the "Queensland" pull is incredibly tenuous. This is nothing more than Elliott and his manager trying to squeeze every cent out of the club for what is likely to be his last ever AFL deal.

He was fine, not a world beater but he was solid.

However he’ll be much cheaper and can play the JSOS swingman role minus injuries
