Good to see Banch getting another game this week and for those who kept harping on and on about how we should have picked May and we stuffed up again I have a feeling he might get a couple more goals or at least a few more touches than May this week.
You'd hope so.

Brodie? as in the one from freo? he’s the biggest one way runner i have ever seen, does not work back defensively one bit that’s why he’s not getting games

His tackling and defensive running would put Powell and Phillips to shame. The reason why he isn’t getting a game is because Freo’s midfield is absolutely stacked with ball hunters already.

Biggest issue either him is that he hasn’t played league footy consistently in 3 years.

If we lose Phillips I’d still take him as a rookie. We’ll need the depth.

Can we get Mitch Lewis please.

He’d pretty much be the perfect combo with Larks.

a lot of the freo fans seem to think he doesn’t run back defensively and from the games i’ve watched it checks out although saying that he can’t be worse then our midfielders

Yeah I'd take Davies in the midfield over everyone in our centre rotation bar LDU and Warslaw atm. We've really done well there haven't we. Invest in the midfield, absolutely **** all to show for it
With McKercher and FOS joining the likes of LDU, Sheezel and Wardlaw next year in the midfield, I'd say we'll be pretty well set up for a decade.

Maybe another bull to give Wardlaw a chop out.

He may indeed
Yeah well i would think he has a better chance as May has been dropped. That was kind of my point lots on here banging on how we stuffed up not picking May. Let's give the blokes we picked a crack at it before saying we should have pick a bloke that has been dropped after a hand full of games from a team that has more injured players than fit players.

I'd really rather see FOS stay around half-back, to be honest. He's two way, smart with his running, good in the air. We're crying out for a brain back there

Why even bother having a draft with all the compromises, deals, compo picks, father-sons, academy picks, multicultural picks (whatever **** that means nowadays) etc etc. The whole system is open to rorting and is a ****ing joke.
Kind of like the “fixture” though isn’t it.
Whole thing has become a product. It’s pathetic.

I completely understand how they would have rated the talls a better quality compared to this years draft.
That's why it's frustrating we gave up 29 (25) for Daniel in that draft class, it was an overpay that was unwarranted.
Potentially we just draft Matt (or Jack at the very least) with that pick, keep our R1 and then this year we could've added a top 5 BFNAAK wing/hbf Josh Lindsay to our team, which could've filled the Daniel role for us long term.
Maybe they didn't expect a kid like him to have the year he's had, but that's the disappointing part of it for me.
If they still made the same F1 trade for another tall to go with Matt, then perhaps we'd feel a bit less angst.

The success of the deal will depend on what happens with the development of Matt and who we add with the Tigers R2.
It might not look so bad if it's a promising young player to go along with Matt and they become key pillars in our team, but it's a risky trade gamble given where the team was that.

Max Gawn said it was a big deal for them early days at the Dees when they had players like Chris Dawes, Jordan Lewis and Bernie Vince wanting to come play for them. Those players contributions, even if short, help move the needle gradually.
I think that's been overlooked a bit by fans in terms of acquiring players like Parker, Darling and Daniel and the impact that can have on a young teams morale and culture, as opposed to just what happens on the field.
I don't really have an issue with the Parker and Darling (and Konstanty) deals.
A F3 for Caleb wouldn't have been a huge issue given this years draft crop and there's ways to generate a pick with player trades or futures if we really needed to get into the 40's.
Daniel showed, well, at least publicly, very little desire to play for us. Whole thing was a shambles. He’s as much to blame for us getting stitched by the Braves.

I’d be peeved if we weren’t right into Max Gruzewski. Use one of our 2nds on Gru and the other on the best available KPF in the draft (Ludowyke?). List balance instantly looks better.

Especially if McCartney nominates us and Jacklock remains a live option.
Yeah strange you mention McCartney as i was on another thread just talking about him and Duck Yeah seems to think he is virtually no chance of choosing us which surprised me a fair bit.

It surprised you one of our most negative posters thought something that would benefit us wouldn't happen?

remember it was rumoured we were a high chance at ed richards

Probably a bit of everything. LDU was a good pick. Logue and LMac average.
It depends on the draft year as well. Stephens, Powell and Phillips was the covid draft. Looks a poor one in hindsight.
If we had Pickett or Serong then things probably look way better.
Too early to judge McKercher, Sheezel, Wardlaw, Duursma and FOS.

For me that highlights our recruiting at late ND, rookie or MSD picks has been poor.
That's why I don't really buy into this thinking that another high end pick would get us out of this mess.
Time to find some role players and elite players outside the first round like a competent recruiting team should do.
Max Holmes and Freijah were 20's and 40's picks, so no reason you can't find them and develop them later.
You say “no reason” but there is.
The same Jerbronies that got us in this hole (Rawlings and co.) are still there! How can we trust these twits to suddenly find “diamonds in the rough” when they have a putrid track record at identifying talent and negotiating decent trades???

I’m waiting to hear “NM has traded their pick 23, for Richmond’s pick 37.”

Yeah, I don’t get it either. We’ve got The Huddle, an amazing women’s program, the greatest coach of the modern era, a safe, inclusive environment……surely Duck Yeah is a little off on this one???
