Flanders, Ryan, Aleer, McKenzie. Who else? How are they planning to get all of these trades done?
They're going to make 10 offers, and if one or two say yes they're going to withdraw the others I imagine. They make offers to every player they think might be available and end up getting 1 or 2.

If the Saint's draft hand that looks like this...

Then, they're expecting to lose some players.

Windhager aside, their OOCs are worth a half eaten dorrito.

Maybe someone'll shake Darcy Wilson loose?

Wouldn't be surprised if they'd entertain offers for Marshall too, given they've sold the farm for TDK.

Max heath looked ok against us - would he be an upgrade on ccj

I'd be putting long term (4-5 years) deals in front of the following players who are contracted to 2026, hopefully we prise 1 or 2 out.
  • Darcy Wilson
  • Noah Answerth
  • Zac Bailey
  • Josh Weddle
  • Jack Whitlock
  • Jordan Croft.
  • Darcy Wilson: Saints would have to do a Geelong and buy him a Cotton on Store or Farm as they have no cap space left.
  • Noah Answerth: Don't really know much about him tbh
  • Zac Bailey : No chance in hell
  • Josh Weddle : BFNAAK? Best 22 at Hawthorn, would be crazy to take a gamble on us.
  • Jack Whitlock : Most likely, as I'm sure he'd be more than open to returning to Vic to play with his brother, and because F*** Port.
  • Jordan Croft. : Father Son, unlikely.

Was keen on Darcy before for similar reasons but JUH leaving/out of action opens the door for Croft

Yeah or Scott perhaps. Really depends on their list spots i guess.

We should really be going after that given what will happen to our early seconds. Pick 6 puts us in the range for Schubert (197cm key fwd), Dean (193cm defender) or a bigger bodied mid in Greeves (191cm).
Josh Lindsay if he drops, Aidan Schubert or Xavier Taylor I think we'd be after. Dean is tied to Blues as a F/S.

20 (757), 21 (721) = 1478 pts. Add in 39 (257), 57 (0) = 1735 pts
GC 6 (1659), 10 (1276), 15 (973), 28 (505), 56 (0) = 4413 pts

So based on that 20 & 21 would more likely get you pick 10 and GC get a nice points gain.
We'd have to give up 39 as well to get 6. Maybe you do it if we get something later for Fisher or Phillips.
Those later picks might come in a little as picks disappear on bids.

He's really good.

Who would we be targeting with pick 6. Isn't the top 10 this year full of academy/FS and the rest not that flash?
I reckon it would be one of the following...
182cm BFNAAK wing/hbf distributor Josh Lindsay if he's not picked before it
191cm defender Xavier Taylor who has risen into the top 10 (intercepts and rebounds, runs the 20m in sub 3 seconds in preseason testing)
197cm Key forward Aidan Schubert (said he's still growing)
Key forward Archie Ludowyke
189cm wing/hbf Jacob Farrow (Hayden Young or Jordan Dawson potential)

That's what puzzles me about the idea. The first rounders are mostly midfielders anyway, which we have enough of. (Because apparently a fit Sam Flanders wouldn't get a game with us) Unless there's a standout key position defender who's going to go in the second half of the first round we're better off sticking with the 2 early seconds. Chances are if you're after key positions you'll get the same player anyway. (eg. Whitlock last year)
It's to guarantee you get someone rather than hoping they fall to pick 20/21.
Don't forget the Oscar Allen, TDK, Silvagni and Draper compo picks will make that 24/25.

Whilst Wilson and/or Whitlock may entertain the idea, given they are contracted, why would St Kilda or Port want to deal? A bit like if Wardlaw came to us now asking for a trade with a long-term offer on the table, I am sure we'd say no.
