Weekend Wrap and "Liked, Learned, Hated" right here -- How did tipping go?
You're a harsh judge... there was some great ball movement and defence in thereNot a great game. Greasy conditions. Dogs conceding some sloppy late goals.

By far his worse game of the season.First time I've watched a full footscray goal this year. Jaques didn't show much tonight imo
Kids need time. We've been blessed by some players coming on very quickly lately but most players outside high first round picks need a bit of time to develop their gamesFirst time I've watched a full footscray goal this year. Jaques didn't show much tonight imo
Yes there were some great chains out of defence. That's the sort of play we tried at KP last night but couldn't execute against Geelong's seniors who shut down our run. But we let Geelong 2nds double their score in that last quarter. You're a harsh judge... there was some great ball movement and defence in there
The last quarter doesn't take away the rest of the game. Shyte conditions, they were probably just a bit tired and eased off a bit. A 4 goal win in those conditions is worth moreYes there were some great chains out of defence. I liked what I saw of Dolan. He could get a call up. Jaques is not banging the door down yet. Jones, Buss, Gardner all good except for those late clangers from Buss.
Coffield and L Smith solid. Kennedy a forgettable game. Hynes and Gallagher were busy. Poulter and Scott added a touch of polish but Scott may have got injured late in the game.
Is Hynes likely a midfield / forward prospect next year? Or likely to take a few years to build his tank?
Perfectly said. Agree completely. I think we are going to be very happy with this pick in a few years time.I think it’ll depend on team needs. If Treloar and Libba are still fit and available, I reckon he’ll pinch hit through the midfield but mainly play forward.
Thought Hynes was seriously impressive yesterday. Yeah, you could’ve easily pointed to one of the key backs who racked it up, and the Cats didn’t exactly make it hard but playing in that high half forward/midfield role, he really stood out. Had a great fend off on Clohesy in the first quarter off half back then dished off a sharp handball that set up a scoring chain. Felt like every touch had purpose. His kicks through the corridor were quick and gave the opposition no chance to pressure a turnover. His kicks inside 50 seem to fly in the air. As he builds more strength through his core, he’ll start taking shots from outside 50 and brushing off defenders with ease.
The main thing with Hynes is you’re not after volume you’re after impact. If he’s getting 20 touches split between midfield and forward and he’s involved in scoring chains, that’s exactly what you want. He creates match up problems strong enough to go deep one-out and quick enough to work up the ground and beat tall defenders the other way.
Naturally, at that age, he’ll need to improve his tank. I also reckon his finishing needs to be a bit more clinical he lets a few chances go begging. And he’s just got to be a touch cleaner below the knees in traffic. But if he irons those out, he’s going to be a serious weapon
.
I haven’t really seen hynes run or anything but would you say he’s about as fast as Bont? I only ask this because I remember people saying last year that he’s slow.I think it’ll depend on team needs. I definitely wouldn’t describe him as slow. He’s got what I’d call easy power that kind of smooth, effortless movement where he looks relaxed, but he covers ground at a decent clip but can shift up a gear when he needs to.I haven’t really seen hynes run or anything but would you say he’s about as fast as Bont?
