Checked out their recruits

Tomlinson 6
Halligan 3 (hasn’t played WAFL for a few years)
Atkins 3

So that’s +12 points

Last game that both Clarkes played in was Round 17, they had 40/42 points.

7 of them will drop a point so that’ll be 33/42 points

So the recruits takes them to 45/42, not miles over. But somebody is leaving or somebody is playing reserves.
Or someone is injured, suspended, heading overseas for a while, etc,
You ever put together a list Bunk?
You don’t stop dead on the points. 😜

VFL leading goalkicker.

Told by a pretty reliable source that he’s on $2k per game plus $25k sign-on at Montrose.
Hey Bunk after your relentless attack on South Belgrave and Doncaster East among others regarding blatant overpayments , you make this announcement and then nothing. Montrose is so far over the cap it’s ridiculous. You have a problem with this or not?

I think points are a consideration, but yeah hear what you're saying.

Not sure about relentless but yeah... I don't know if this has actually happened then clearly Montrose have completely passed over into piss-taking territory. Last year's list + all Croydon's best players + Williamstown players incl the VFL leading goalkicker.

They're making a complete mockery of the comp, not that anything will happen.

10 or more mentions I’d call relentless and my mail is the Full Forwards matchies are significantly more than 2k. Just scrap this uncontrollable farce and tighten up the points . It’s gone back to the $$ wins.

Fair enough.

Main problem with the points is it's never been implemented as intended. Total points were meant to be different across teams based on where they finished the previous year.

The other thing with points is they need to find a way to better rank local players. Basically everybody is three points. Last year's League B&F winner in Division 1 (Mellis I think?) and some bloke who played 10 games for Forest Hill are both worth 3 points if they moved clubs this year. But I don't really know the answer.

Same at high level. This McLaughlin shouldn't be the same as some local player who's played 5 games for Bullants or Coburg.

I wouldn't like to see the salary cap scrapped as it has had an impact, but certainly more needs to be done about it. It won't be totally watertight but there is certainly more than can be done.

Really the only fair way is if an independent body assesses every player and gives them a score based on a number of different things. As a player you enter your details at the end of each season and it comes up with a points number for those who switch clubs. There would be issues but you could have appeals and if a single body was doing it, it'd be more consistent than current.

Not sure how much it's been tweaked over the years but I know about 6 years ago Mt Ev had one of their young players (MB) come back to the club. He was only about 19 and hadn't played seniors but because of the classification he was deemed a 4 pointer. The club were appealing and looking for a dispensation because the case in question didn't stack up. Things like that had to get ironed out.

As you’ve said previously Boronia were never going to win a bidding war against Sorrento. The only thing they had in their favour is the Clarke’s I believe are close mates with Begley and other Boronia players. In the end money talks

Heard Stephenson got offered double that as a sign on for a club down Geelong way, and knocked it back to pursue another go in the AFL

Has Brandon White Left Beaconsfield?

Set to field a younger, new-look side next season, Beaconsfield’s star departures include ex-AFL Saint Brandon White (Dromana), co-captain and ex-VFL talent Damien Johnston and runner-up best and fairest Ethan Harris (Upper Gully), while speculation continues to surround ex-AFL Tiger Jake Aarts, who has been heavily linked to a return to Dromana.

The salary cap and points systems has in my opinion changed the quality of local football you now see talent more spread rather than all playing in higher levels the standard of footy definitely not as strong as once was

Marcus Young from East Burwood to Templestowe.

Wonder what the circumstances are… in my experience it’s usually a “certain” type of player who goes and plays against their old club.
What reason would that be?
He wants to win? Resume reads well and joining Mariani as well as strong connections with the Blackburn boys who are already at tempy!

There's a thousand footy clubs around... always found those who go and play against their current mates as pretty interesting.

Sometimes there's an obvious reason, maybe it's their original club or they've moved house down the road, etc.
