Given his injures Spargo has presumably come for an opportunity rather than receiving guarantees but we targeted him to address a key need by improving delivery into the 50 off half forward and pressure without the ball. We drafted Mikunda with similar thoughts IMO. If Charlie is fit I suspect he plays early but will need to perform to hold his place.

Anyone that lists turncoat in our best 23, is going on a list.
Maybe turncoat works his way back in (when he remembers what being an ok footballer is), but doubtful. He's been paid like he's 3x the player he actually is. Not to mention the obvious.

A stat will never tell the full story, but I do look at them. In 2025..

We finished 3rd for centre clearances.
2nd for stoppage clearances behind the Lion.
Equal 18th for inside 50's
15th least turnovers ( surprising)
18th for intercepts- that's not good FYI. Crows ( 1st) were intercepting the oppositions kicks 17 times more per game than us. Yep lacking marking presence around the ground.
The rest of the stats; we're starting to move in the right direction.

But as I've NFI; how does one finish 3rd for centre clearances but equal last for inside 50's, are we running the wrong ****ing way. The other 3 clubs struggling to get the ball inside 50 all finished between 18-16th for centre clearances.

I think the pieces are falling into place, just the old coaching crew were rather cooked.

Dovaston makes our forward line so much better balanced.

Will be interesting to see who out which of the two out of Pink, Dawson and Logue make final team. I’d like Dawson to replace Pink at some point but not sure he has the runs on the board just yet. He’ll get games though no doubt.

Goad pushing out Darling would be ideal too but don’t think it happens just yet.

Yes clearly, but how do we rectify this issue. Is it the scrap for the ball and a blind kick forward that's bringing us undone.

If we're expecting Darling to get off the line quick to contest a hack kick, it's the same as expecting a fully laden B- double to get off the line quick, it aint happening.

I'll be very interested in how we deal with this over the pre-season and into next year.

Not sure it is a blind kick or it is under pressure but the ball often flares out towards the boundary. It appears to be poor skill. What ever it is it seems to favour defenders who get possession and kick it back over the head of our midfielders who stop for a while then decide to jog down to the opposition forward line. But not to far.

You can dominate clearances but they make up a fraction of the inside 50s. It's a defensive transition game now which we are awful at. That's where we are breaking down.
