He was the least cat 10 out of all our defenders last year after that first month
Guess we'll have to disagree on that. His inability to kick into the corridor under no pressure late in the final still stands out as a shocking error. He wasn't alone in making errors late in that game though

Draper reminds me of what Pearce looked like when he started out, played insecurely and lacked confidence in body and himself and so just needs game time. He'll be fine.
Yes. Draper conversations triggering some flashbacks.

If I remember correctly it was tricky to predict exactly where Pearce might fit into a side: the wing was mentioned as a possibility.

Correct! There is no Cat 10, the scale goes to 5.

Not kicking into the corridor wasn’t a Cat 10. Kicking towards the boundary was a tried and tested method that had worked for us in all the other similar close wins.

Yeah, strongly disagree with that wholeheartedly. That was the most obvious option to keep possession of the ball and kill the clock. Don't need any more painful reminders of that pathetic performance finals performance from the club, still hurts and frustrates me to this day.

‘leg speed’ is the one that I scratch my head over. Surely ‘pace’ is fine
There are different kinds of pace. You can have chase down pace (closing speed), kicking speed (hand to foot) hand speed (quick hands) and fast decision making (footy brain).

Leg speed has it's place in context.

There’s also Ben Cousins speed.

Team has dropped. Interesting emergencies

Weren’t there comments from the club re Darcy, he’d be playing against Adelaide

“Asthma drug prednisone”? Maaate, that’s a steroid. Asthmatics should only take it for a few days at a time.

Put an asterisk on that premiership

He did cough up three goals in the first quarter of the season… htb to danger, deliberate on one side of the field, deliberate on the other side.

Also holding onto Swallow ended our season.

I like him as a player but decision making is super weird at times.

Correct! There is no Cat 10, the scale goes to 5. If you have a player doing a regular thing every week that is double the scale then it really isn’t rare enough to be called that.

This is the most outrageous call since athletes starting saying they are giving 110% effort.

Notice how I said after the first month?

Swallow was a 50/50 call not a Cat 10, or a stupid decision. Mistake ≠ Cat 10.

Cox was one of our most important players after the first month of the season. Was looking great this pre season as well. Hopefully he comes back strong early.

Went completely under the radar for a lot of people cos his first month was so poor, but he was taking the best forward every week and keeping them contained while Pearce was still getting all the credit for it.

Swallow flopped backwards..

I don't rate Murphy at all not do I rate Davies.

Draper has the talent all be it he looks casual.
I rate Murphy. He can certainly develop this season and be ready in late 2026, by 2027.

Davies isn’t ahead of Draper. They’re just trying out both in the pre season.

He’s our most improved defender IMO.
Does all the work quietly and Pearce looks good because of it

Pearce and O''Driscoll would be worse kicks. There could be others as well.
Disagree on both players tbh.

And if you go beyond kicking and look at them as an overall offensive package it's not even close. I'm talking ability to run with the ball and/or be involved in handball chains that help us move the ball quickly.

It'd be a bit of worry if that wasn't the case for NOD though (ie a winger).

McDonald is just a stopper. A good one but that's still all he is.
