May well be that we wanted to shield him from Nankervis because he’s the biggest thug in the comp and Nick isn’t exactly a big physical brawler but if not now, when?
Toddy well overdue for a rest
100% correct.....if they don't rate him it becomes an exercise in asset management.I see we are looking at a hulking Sudanese ruck in the msd, along with Vigo it does reek if somebody bot rating Bryan, they just need to be careful they don't ruin his trade value before he cracks it
I doubt very much that he would have very much trade value. Pick 50 +.100% correct.....if they don't rate him it becomes an exercise in asset management.
I think the situation can be managed so that his value is optimised.I doubt very much that he would have very much trade value. Pick 50 +.
Should work out well then. We play Macca's team this weekend!Thommo or Macca, probably
I laughed when Goldy found himself alone in the corridor with the ball!Get him in.
Nakervis gave goldy a both around stoppages. May have done the sane to byran but think he would have exposed him the other way.
Heck goldy did it by not moving, being tired, Imagine If byran could have a linking up breaking to the wing.
Word out of Ess (I believe Brad Scott said it) is that Bryan was consulted prior to bringing in Goldy and was fully supportive of it. Either Bryan just said he was supportive because he was put in a pretty impossible situation, or there has been genuine communication about his progress and future plans and both he and the coach are on the same page. Guess we find out at the end of the year when he either seeks a trade or not. Those making the argument that Goldstein is close to the finish as a reason Bryan could stay - yes, but the same argument could be made last year, where Phillips was “close to the end” and Goldstein wasn’t even a factor. Circumstances change all the time.
Debating who he would be the number 1 ruck for it futile in my opinion - at the end of the day, if clubs are coming calling with the offer (which there are enough rumblings that they both did last year and are again) I’d go if I were him. It’s just logical, and practical.
Haven’t seen it confirmed/denied anywhere, but I firmly believe he would’ve left last year if he knew we were recruiting Goldstein - I know Goldstein only committed to us after Bryan had already re-signed so that makes sense, but if Bryan knew Goldstein was coming, I don’t think he signs that contract.

So you are saying Peter Wright will play number 1 ruck if Goldy gets an injuryAbsolutely believable.
But I think if he’d known that while Draper was out, and he was sitting in the twos averaging 20+ stats and 40+ hitouts over the last 5 weeks while Goldy was looking every bit of his 36 years old and copping an absolute bath from Xerri and Nank - he’d not be thrilled.
There are different ways to look at everything, but I think he’s almost certainly played his last game in Essendon colours if he doesn’t get a game this weekend (and maybe even if he does). Without checking (or knowing anywhere you could check such a stat), I’d guess there would be very, very few rucks in the past who have made it at senior level being a third in line after 5 seasons.
