Luke Parker
Luke Parker has plenty of football ahead and has already compiled a resume packed with impressive achievements. Since landing at the Sydney Swans via the 2010 AFL Draft, he has won a 2012 premiership medal, earned All Australian selection and won two Bob Skilton medals. In 2015, he was added to the club’s leadership group at the age of just 22, and has led the team as a co-captain alongside Josh Kennedy and Dane Rampe since 2019. While Parker is among the league’s elite midfielders, his strong marking and expert game awareness make him a genuine threat when rotating through the forward line.

I know Brownlow-level form ain't easy to produce, but when Parker is at his best he's as good as Martin or Dangerfield or Fyfe.

So I'm starting to understand the King and Punts' frustration that he shows it so inconsistently.

Not even fair to hold him to standards of Martin danger Ablett Mitchell and the elite mids of the comp

Probably is because he gets a lot of votes when he shouldn’t

His reputation precedes him, as ever. The media goes nuts over him when he plays well and goes quiet when he disappoints. It artificially inflates how the media and public perceive him.

Until last night he had been having a good season but last night was all too familiar. Against a really inspired team, he went missing. Against a midfield of Richie Douglas, Bryce Gibbs, Cam Ellis-Yolmen, and Hugh Greenwood.

Kennedy is his and Hannebery's security blanket. He needs someone to rely upon when he can't do it. If Kennedy is playing horribly, we're in deep trouble, because Parker has never had to carry the load on his own week after week.

Parker was good last week though, while Kennedy was poor.

Parker is a reflection of the team himself, massive gap from best to worst. His best is absolutely elite, while his worst is almost at a fringe player level. In fairness he's the former more than the latter.

We have quite a few players like this in our top end talent, to varying degrees as to what their best - worst levels are (one note able one probably retired preseason).
Likewise a few fringe players who on occasion show their is a lot more talent hidden under there than they usually display - Rohan, Cunningham are examples (although he has been doing it so far this year).

Our game plan relies more on heavily individuals, moreso than strategy, so when it all comes together and most are playing near their top, we're almost unbeatable and are the best side in the comp but on the flipside have that massive drop to absolutely pedestrian when so many go off the boil (there seems to be 2-4 games like this where they are all off the boil a year, usually 1 is in finals).
Often Kennedy can pull together herculean efforts to cover up the cracks and keep feeding the others and paper over the cracks or even almost carry us home. Franklin likewise can pull in a massive one to make up for for off players.
I have the faith that Kennedy will respond the way champions do and find form again, but some of these other top end talent guys like Parer need to close their best/worst gap and stop these week to week form fluctuations.

Parker is 'elite' when Kennedy is doing his best work. Otherwise he's exposed like he was yesterday and every other time Kennedy isn't playing well. That's why in finals he goes missing.

We are one week removed from Parker stepping up when Kennedy was hopeless.

Missing again last night\
Really only played 2 good games this year

Would say 3.
WCE, Port and Bulldogs.

Last 3 SCG games he hasn't played well.

This is the Luke Parker I want to see

Epic tonight when needed , even that report seem to make him say alright I better get us home here, don’t give 2 shits what his stats were, he was in every key contest late

Happy to be proven wrong and eat humble pie over big games

His weakness is putting his hand up to play when not fit.
He is a star & a tough one at that.
He turned the game with that hit & then had an impact with the footy.
He turned his body at the contest but Impy didn't so u fortunately he will go for a week may e two but s**t happens.

Never write off a champion.

Going by the logic in the Burton decision he should get off.

But, Michael Christian is as anti-Swans as they come. Expecting Parker to get 3 weeks.
