I think it would be a dramatic overreaction to sack Cox midseason, but our injuries are irrelevant to our midfield woes.

Injuries to key position players shouldn't mean that opposition midfields can dominate ours like they have this season.

We definitely need to look at trying something else in there. NFI what though.

I want to know what has happened to Rowbottom this year. His last 2 months last year were excellent. Out of 8 games, there was half a dozen performances better than any this year which is a concern.

I actually think the impact of that is being underrated here. 6 clearances per game across those 8 games down to 4.5 this year, but the more telling thing is his lack of impact. I hate to say it, but I feel like I hardly even notice him out there most weeks.

He's still young, so hopefully it's just a form trough. Warner seems to be turning a corner, would be nice if we can see Rowy do the same.

For a while I thought our midfield issues were down to size, but it wasn't exactly a big North midfield that tore us to pieces last week.

Horse in his press conference slipped when referring to the McCartins being out and said IF when mentioning Rampe.

He is in full contact training according to the updated injury list.

Not sure Horse says “if” unless he is a chance. Bit of a slip.

May not be any trams running to the SCG from central tomorrow.

HUGE fire right next door to central.

Yeah. I'm a plane nerd/Av geek I get yah.

WX has cross winds of gusting to 32 knots at Mascot Friday lunch.

Will be something!

With less than an hour to go before the 23 are named I can honestly say that we are virtually no chance tomorrow night no matter who is selected. In fact, I can see McKay and Curnow getting 10+ and the Blues winning by a lot.

The Norf game was about as bad as I can recall since the mid-90's all things considered. We would need to improve by well over 50% to get up.

If head coaches can get fired midseason, why not midfield - or ball up/center-bounce coach?
If ours is Cox he must surely be close to being told to pack his bags.

Should be at the last chance saloon this week IMO.
We couldn't possibly do worse by hiring someone new now, could we?
Before the soft cap was cụt we had seperate Mids and ruck coaches. Now, we have a mid coach who coaches the rucks. Usually there is a specialist ruck coach at every club.

I think that midfield strategy is not just the purvey of one person. They can suggest things but that does not mean the Head Coach will agree. He may think the strategies do not fit with the game plan. No matter who is in charge of what area the final say is always with the head coach

Curnow and Owies I think even Silvagni popped up with a couple of goals last time.

Season defining win if we can get up here.

Left field but I wouldn't mind seeing Clarke in the mids a little bit. He's got good handballing skills, great at applying pressure & tackling, he's hard at the ball. It would free up rowey to do a bit of ball hunting.
Agree totally, with the mids in such a mess and the desperate need for an inside ball winner Clarke seems the obvious answer. There's been a few calling for Sheldrick to get a go in there, surely Clarke deserves first crack. Plays the role well in the vfl.

Yep he’s not everyone’s cup of tea mainly because of his disposal but he is hard as a cats head and at least can halve a contest in there. Not The worst thing we could do. If he can’t get it you can bet he will make hard for opponents to get it. Let’s face it if it marches out with the regular monotonous fashion it did last week this backline will be lambs to the slaughter.

Happy with that.

Forward pressure - :whitecheck:
Legitimate key defender - :whitecheck:
Tall person at centre bounces - :whitecheck:

Carlton must be tanking. It's the only possible explanation for dropping Lewis Young, who I reckon has been near on their best player this year.
