AFL Player 27: Mason Redman šŸ• - Goes whack

As good as I thought he'd become that trust you have in really good players isn't there. It took about 12 months for the sheen to rub of Hurley, for example.

I reckon if Redman had played that game last year I'd be pretty thrilled with but it tonight it felt like an out of form batsman scratching his way to 70.

It was his best game of the year. Last quarter was really good. I missed what that free was for. Did he get pinged because he assumed he'd been awarded high contact?

Hi, Scott here. Just on Mason, at a player sponsor zoom catch up Mason highlighted that he had been battling with OP. In full transparency I was not on that zoom call but a very close friend who sponsors Mason was. I later had it confirmed by someone at the club through a conversation. He has recovered from the OP and things are ok but he noted it did set him back somewhat. I suspect a full off season break and pre season fitness base will do wonders for a much improved Mason in 2021.

Makes sense. He's not the quickest of the quick but he's still on the quick side of average, average side of quick. He's also got that power to burst away from congestion and look a bit quicker than he is.

After the return from the covid break he was running like he was in sand. It's inevitable that if you're a defender and you're not moving well that mistakes will flow.

A couple shakey moments but reckon this might be the game where he's turned the corner.
He’s been playing the last 4-6 weeks through some groin soreness which has apparently been improving greatly the last few weeks. No surprise to see him recapturing his early season form. Sometimes we don’t always have the full picture.

this begs the questions... why did we put a player battling OP on the most agile and dangerous small forward in the comp in Charlie Cameron. Even fully fit thats questionable

Playing with zero confidence and cannot win a one on one. Looks weak and has no athleticism in the way he moves on the field. Don't like to bash players, but i hope he is injured, because he is just a pedestrian player with no footy smarts if he isn't.

That was a fair bash for someone who doesnt like to bash haha

I mean he kept the best small forward of the past decade in Breust goalless and really only gave away a couple of opportunities which someone like Breust will always create for himself.

His offensive game will sort itself out IMO

Had huge hopes for him last year, but really seemed to regress this year.

What happened to those long r50 kicks down the wing? He seems the polar opposite of what he was. Now seems to panic with the ball in hand and either handball to someone under pressure or do a dinky little sideways or backwards kick.

Hope he can turn it around next year.

It seemed to happen to most of the team unfortunately. Makes me think there could've been some genuine confusion with game plan. No one bar Ridley, Saad and McGrath really looked confident with what they were doing. Im hoping, and quietly confident that he can bounce back and be that player we all saw.
