Except for Collingwood, GWS and GCS it seems most clubs have a fair handle on their salary cap situations in advance these days

Half back flankers don’t win you flags, I’d prefer the first round pick and cap space.

I reckon that deal nets us end of first round compo at best. We could package that with our second rounder and try to find another to get a deal done for GCS pick 6.

Surely he stays…integral to the club and seems to be a beloved member of the team.

Dollars will be close, no real pull to Adelaide, maybe they offer an extra year or two….so you leave for the small amount of extra security? Think the answer is not if you really want to be at EFC. Feels like Redman is very invested and post-footy he’s going back to Millicent to make a mint catching crays anyway.

Don't think compensation is based on contract duration, it's based on the yearly amount being paid as a base of the contract, it doesn't include any incentives like Judd's Visy ambassadorship for example.

Happy to take the compo & move up the draft order. Our ascension as a team doesn’t hit a snag because we lose a HB.

It’s likely somewhere between 700-750 over 6

At the end of the day no player is bigger than the club, and if mason doesn’t want to be there shake hands and part ways. But jeez it will hurt, he plays footy the right way and is everything you want in a footballer and has qualities essendon have lacked for the past 2 decades.

I thought 650k x 5 originally would be Red dogs range. If 700k x 6 gets it done im ok but it is a huge commitment from us. Front load it and just hope his form and commitment to us doesn't drop off. He's clearly driven and hungry for success so i think its an investment worth taking a risk on.

Luckily we can match anything and Adelaide obviously want him that badly, none of their players/picks/future picks should be off limits. Love Red dog but club first, no way im letting him walk for a late 1st.
