Hodge, along with Paul Puopolo (back/hamstring tightness), will face tests later this week to determine his availability.
"If they can both do a full week's worth of training and get up to speed by the end of the week, then they're a chance," Hawthorn football operations general manager Mark Evans told hawthornfc.com.au on Tuesday evening.

2012 Round 5 Hawthorn vs Syndey

He's back!

Returning to the Hawthorn side for his first game in 2012, Puopolo started the game on the bench as the sub. He got his chance in the third quarter as a battered and bruised Gibson subbed out of the game. Puopolo got a little bit of the ball, down back, but all the zip was out of the Hawthorn game and the side struggled and then went down like a sack of spuds in the last quarter. Good to see the lad back, looking fit and strong!

2012 Round 6 Hawthorn vs St Kilda

His second game back for the Hawks and he started wearing the green jacket of the sub. Got his chance at the 20 minute mark of the third quarter as Jarrad Boumann was subbed out. Yet again, Puopolo subbed on for a tall back man. This time he had a big influence on the game, providing tackling pressure all over the game in a gutsy little cameo, which featured a bustling goal on the forward line. Looked sharp, enthusiastic, fit and a complete must to start on the ground in the Hawks coming encounter versus Melbourne. Would be great to see him in the forward line for a game to provide extra pressure for the talls and the other goal sneaks.

2012 Round 7: Hawthorn vs Melbourne, MCG

Puopolo started on the ground, instead of being the sub in his previous two encounters, and it paid dividends right away, nailing the first first two goals for Hawthorn. The first was from a sneaky handball from Breust, and followed with some fancy and a check-side. Whilst the second saw him running into an open 50m and strolling into goal, after Buddy spotted him up and drilled the ball long to him. Good game by Puopolo, active really early, but drifted out of the game. With match fitness returning, sure to improve on an already impressive few comeback games.

2012 Round 8: Hawthorn vs Fremantle, Aurora

Quiet game for Puopolo. Played the role of a defensive forward, for periods in the game, but when you sum it up, it was a disappointing game for Puopolo. Four possessions for a game isn't that great for any player, though he did only play 60% of the game. Good win by the Hawks.

2012 Round 9: Hawthorn vs Richmond, MCG

Puopolo's poor game of round 8 led to him going back to being the super sub. Came on for the 4th quarter, with Hawthorn in trouble, and made little difference to the avalanche of Richmond goals as the Hawks threw in the white towel. This is the 3rd time he's been sub in 5 games and, to be honest, I think you either play him for the full game or drop him to Box Hill. He's not really an impact player with the pace to influence a game, nor can he cover many different roles as a sub, being that he's tiny. Great player, but may be under a little pressure to hold his place as maybe the neon sub-jacket is a hint for round 10.

Pup was recruited as an excellent small defender .... So why is Clarko continuing to use him as a sub, and more importantly as a defensive forward ????

2012 Round 10: Hawthorn vs Kangaroos, Aurora

Puopolo helped Hawthorn to a handy win with his best performance for the year. Started the game with a scrapping snap for a goal to give Hawthorn it's first major and then finished in style with a set shot deep in the pocket, from the boundary line. Played the most amount of time for the season and was a real live wire, up forward, linking up with Buddy for a couple of goals and providing heaps of forward pressure. Confident this will set the tone for the rest of the season for Puopolo. Great stuff!

2012 Round 17: Hawthorn vs Collingwood, MCG

Big wins by the Hawks and nice little game by Puopolo, playing as a defensive forward. Great tackling and chasing, plus a couple of game highlights.

A great mark over Harry O'Brien and Cyril

Also, an outstanding set shot from the pocket on the tightest of angles.

2012 Round 20: Hawthorn vs Port, Aurora Stadium

Tougher game than expected for the Hawks, with the sides close at 3/4 quarter time... before the Hawks unleashed in the last. Puopolo was a machine in the forward line, snagging 5 goals for his best return in AFL football.

Couple of highlights for Puopolo:

Sneaky dribbling goal, reading it off the pack after placing himself front & center.

And an outstanding snap along the ground from the forward pocket.
