Toast 300 Up for BJ.

This guy has integrity. Not that stupid AFL buzz word version of the word but real, absolute integrity.

The way he has carried himself since he walked through the door is quite amazing when you consider what he walked into. He became the unofficial spokesman for the club during our darkest hour and has maintained the standards both on and off field that made him so loved at St Kilda.

I desperately hope he tastes some success in the twilight of his career because he ****ing well deserves it.

I didn't have the highest of opinions of Goddard before we recruited him, and even after we did.

I remember thinking at the time, I'm not sure I'll ever grow to LOVE this guy.

Boy was I wrong.

I spoke to him at the sponsors night immediately following his recruitment. He'd already been shoved in front of every camera and journo for a while as the only 'clean' star on our list, and I felt like he'd be hammered from pillar to post.

So when I spoke to him, I said to him that while I knew I couldn't do anything on behalf of the club, that this member was sorry that this shitstorm hit effectively as soon as he'd arrived.

BJ shrugs, says it's not my fault and they've just got to get on with the job.

And **** me dead, did he ever.

Has won a B&F, been an outstanding player, has shown incredible leadership when honestly I don't think anyone could reasonable expected him to take any responsibility, and stood up and captained this club in the worst of circumstances.

Is a bloody star.

I'm not sure how I ever thought I couldn't love this guy...

Still to this day I have never worked out why Grant Thomas never played him in R1 2003 at Manuka Oval vs Norf.

He seemed very comfortable about 5 games in.

Yeah loved him from afar & was my favourite player outside of the Bombers before he came. Got some traits that hopefully won't be affected by age, never had pace but a beautiful kick. Hopefully at least another 2 years left. Time enough for a flag

I loved some essendon players a lot more than I love this guy, but I dont think I have ever respected one more than him.

Earned every cent he was paid and I will never forget the way he conducted himself with the media during the saga. He was literally the face of the club during that time and did it with absolute class. Oh and he was pretty good on field too.

When the shit was really hitting the fan in 2013, he was in the thick of a number of great wins that season, including some clutch shots on goal that resulted in a very accurate 18.5 for him that year.

His will be one of the more significant 100 games for this club, given what he left behind and what he then walked in to. Hopefully he can have a 'Pops' moment and celebrate a milestone with a win against his old club.

Cheers, BJ!

The Essendon part of his career has been massively underrated by the broader AFL community.

Been ****en fantastic for us. Would love to see him go out after having played finals footy again.

I love a player that everyone hates, glad he is on our side, stand up bloke.

There are probably bigger puzzles in the world mate.

:P

I can't work out why any of our supporters don't like the guy. And there are quite a few.

I didn't know some Essendon fans still hate him.

Why?

the hats are the only blemish on his career at the dons

Pretty happy that I get to see BJ play his 300th. Came to us expecting big things and got thrown in to the saga. So what did he do? Decided to become a leader of our club. Thanks BJ. I'll have a couple of grogs in the stands for you on Saturday
