read it and weep crowie

AFTER being contacted by the Port Adelaide Football Club this morning, the AFL looked into the vision of four players attending the National Swimming Trials as spectators last night.

Whilst the vision on the broadcast showed the four players without masks on, it was determined, after speaking with the club and players involved, that they had recently finished consuming their food / beverages – however the players acknowledge they still should have returned to wearing their masks more promptly thereafter.

The four Port Adelaide players attended the swimming as members of the public, unlike the recent Adelaide Crows matter where the players and officials were under AFL jurisdiction in travelling home from a game on a flight and in club uniform.

The AFL has asked Port Adelaide to provide further education to all players and officials at the club about following the appropriate guidelines in place for whatever event or establishment they may be visiting in their own time.

The Covid pandemic only respects discipline and we remind everyone in the community to continue to follow the advice of Governments and medical professionals.
Imagine getting your dream job working for the AFL and you show up to work one day and are asked look at crowd footage from a swimming competition to compare to submitted credit card receipts to decide if it is possible that 4 young men might be eating food
Also imagine that was the best part of your week because it was one of the few times you weren't subject to unwanted sexual advances

Lol what the fu** are you talking about?

The whole reason we were locked down was because of a breach at your hotels and yet there's been no announcements in regards to improving them from SAhealth despite new variants spreading via ventilation. It was just move along here nothing to see.. focus on Vics Contact tracing please.

Good point were it not for the fact that the current Victorian lockdown is directly traceable to a breach that occurred within the South Australian covid hotel system.
Cool story, but what about the delta variant thats been detected in Victoria?

You guys did know that the Victorians had a second outbreak at the same time right? Not related to the guy that came from SA? The West Melbourne cluster.

The leak from SA is the best thing that could've happened for Victoria. It meant you were already in lockdown when you had someone with the Delta variant leaked out. With the way that Victorian outbreaks blow out and spread, you're lucky the less virulent version resulted in a lockdown. Just imagine what would've happened if Victorians were wandering around everywhere with the delta variant in the community.

Give it a rest. I said the current Victorian lockdown, which commenced on 26 May, was directly traceable to a breach in an SA covid hotel, which it was making your original attack on the Victorian health system more than a bit off target.

A returned traveller entered an Adelaide quarantine hotel covid free and left that hotel WITH the virus where he travelled into and around Victoria unrestricted before being retested.

The leak from SA is the best thing that could've happened for Victoria.

You might want to run that ridiculous comment past a few Melbourne businesses and those who have lost their jobs as a result over the past 3 weeks.

Making this an issue of SA v Vic as if it was some sort of defacto State of Origin contest misses the point entirely.

Either way it was the right thing for Victoria to lock down. Gladdys is playing with fire with this variant. She'd hope it pays off

My point still stands that re SA hotel quarantine though. It leaks from every state.

Really, just imagine how screwed they'd be if everyone in Victoria was still roaming freely when the much worse delta variant leaked.

I was commenting on how much an outbreak spreads throughout the Victorian community whenever one happens, which has absolutely nothing to do with the source. Nevermind the fact that the Victorian outbreak actually became such an issue because 1 person took 10 days to go and get tested, and another 7 days.

Maybe if some weren't so blase about travelling around during this time as demonstrates by statements seen in here about "well we don't have masks at the football in Melbourne".

I like that this is such a dangerous, vicious disease that we're living with that people are actually disappointed that they weren't doing the wrong thing.

lol imagine a Viccy trying to throw shade on any other state when they've had more weeks of lockdown than other states combined and have had more deaths in total than SA has had cases, "but your leaky hotels"
It's not a competition. It's a pandemic that's effecting every state.
I'm not trying to get one over anyone.
It's not SAs fault or any state for that matter if the federal government don't want to help fund to improve what is their constitutional responsibility. If you're having a breach due to ventilation and nothing changes it's going to keep happening.

Hotel quarantine = failure.
Vaccine rollout = absolute cluster *

Nothing will change untill those two improve.

Every state does it . It's embarrassing. Political or not.

I was just in New Zealand and there's absolutely none of this. No potshots just getting on with it.

calling the vaccine rollout an "absolute cluster fu**" might be a bit of a stretch pal

104th in the world
We were told we'd be "front of the queue"
Only 3% of the population is fully vaccinated and we've only just entered winter
People within cat 1a including frontline workers still not vaccinated. No records of aged care staff vaccinated. The majority of our disability sector under Commonwealth support not vaccinated.
Emergency meetings happening at fed level Monday re the rollout.
Ongoing issues with Pfizer supplies and no promotional material or advertising campaigns to reduce vaccine hesitancy because of lack of supply.

The feds walked away from a Pfizer deal last year which would of given us 40 million vaccines.

If that's not a cluster * of a rollout what is?
