The morale of his playing group, especially down back every time he stinks it up as the opposition offence hitches a ride on the Daniel Express into their forward line.
It looked like this actually inspired a couple of the team members today. CCJ did his very best impersonation.

How did the club not see that the game had passed him by in his last year at the dogs?

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall with the internal discussions on his recruitment. Was everyone on board? Did everyone think it was a good idea or did Clarko just make a captains call?
And worse still, we overpaid horrendously for a player who wasn't beat 22 and mortgaged our draft hand!
Ffs

When the opposition are sagging off your designated kicker in the hope that he gets the ball you know you’re in trouble. If needs to be in the side it has to be further up the field.

In my eyes, his recruitment will for ever be the final confirmation that this footy department is cooked. From the recruiting down to the coaching.

Anyways, life is there to be enjoyed. I know this ****ing club will keep pulling me back in, but I’m going to try my hardest to keep my self busy with other interests. This team ain’t worth the effort.

Melbournes first goal is the epitome of his career at North .... while there is a pack of players in and around a contest in the forward pocket, he waits behind on the goal line .... with no effect at all. Another early Melbourne goal sees him, I'd suggest, 8 or 9 metres behind a leading Picket. Ineffectual, slow and without kicking penetration or closing speed. Let alone reach, height or body pressure.

Pretty well summarised.

A lot of blokes copped a lot of flack criticising this trade. It was putrid from the jump and it keeps getting worse. We're in deep sunk cost areas with him now.
Did they? I think it (the actual trade itself) has been - almost unanimously - criticised on here from day one.

Yes and no it wasn't unanimous.
I think it largely was, I think there is a difference between the trade itself and the idea of getting him on the list. I think the price (ie. the actual trade) was never that popular. I personally don't think him on the list is the end of the world. He still runs rings around plenty of our players which is on them, not him.

I can't be bothered going back but there was extensive discussion and coping about how little value second round picks have, how the pick will be pushed back and the odds of finding a better player than Daniel with the pick we took. This topic even continued after we doubled down and traded out pick 3 just to get a stab at a key position player that was likely to be there at our initial pick.

You don't hear as much talk about it now as it would be ridiculous to suggest that someone like Jobe Shanahan or Jack Whitlock would offer less value to us than Daniel going forward but too many geniuses on here were obsessed with calling the draft a lotto to square the circle in their minds.

I coped about it. Some rationale along the lines of 'if it helps the connection between backline and midfield, then maybe it's not the abject terrible deal I first thought.'

And its only going to look a lot sillier in a few years time as these blokes begin to break out....

Perpetual sad times from which i are past trying to rationalise...

We need to find a way out of this deal. Whilst some might argue he is best 22 he is the epitome of what is holding us back. Short slow and his little chip kicks go against what you want off half back, run or a penetrating kick.

If he has such great leadership skills make him the VFL captain. Rewrite his contract to include on field coach. Almost feels like we owe him an apology for selling him false hope that he could play another four years of AFL.

This isn’t meant as a criticism of him. He has done nothing wrong excepting our offer. The trade of our 2nd rounder to get him is on us. He obviously has some qualities that our list lack in professionalism and preparation. If we are together for another 3 years lets make it a win win and start his development as a coach.

What ive causually noticed over the intra club and now the first praccy game is that guys will actually not give him the football if they can help it. Ive seen players notice him run past and look ahead or sideways for other teammates. I know it doesnt happen often enough as he has the ball far too often for my liking however it shows me even his own teammates know he's rubbish and a complete liability.

For a backline with absolutely no confidence having this tiny turnover merchant who cant kick 20 meters must be soul destroying.

Because in the end as a player you might as well chip it 20-30 over the mark yourself with the luxury of taking your kick under no pressure. It’s all you are going to get if you pass to Daniel, with the added pressure that the man who was on the mark can close on him.

My favourite play of his on Friday was early in the first when a dees player from a crum 25m out snapped at goal. And who was waiting in the goal square? Yep, the garden gnome. Not because he was guarding his opponent, or because it was good defensive positioning to guard the goal mouth. He was hanging out for the kick-in. He pounced on that mother ****er when it went though for a behind like no one’s business.

Yeh anyone who criticises our trading is immediately ridiculed and branded negative.

Even though you'd struggle to name 1 genuine trade win in the last 10 years.

Just 1.

I've said ever since he arrived that I'd like to see him play HHF in that RHJ / Sleevo role. I still reckon he'd be good at it.

Agree that it would be better to have Kerch and Hardeman as the main playmakers from the backline.

Problem is, Kerch isn't available this week, and aside from a dude who may or may not get an SSP spot, there weren't any other alternatives today, and there won't be next week either.
Kunte is the option. It's the only option.

It's not over until this back 6 players 10 games together in 2028.

Waite was great. Jacobs was good. NThompson was almost a win.

I get that they were 12ish but close enough. Darling and Parker aren't losses, probably small wins too. Higgo was a bit of a win, while we're still at.

FFS chips, KC was talking rhetorically. He didn't actually want a response.

Bro.

Waite was a free agent 12 years ago.

Jacobs was drafted by us 14 years ago.

Nathan Thompson was a trade 22 years ago.

Higgins was a free agent 12 years ago.

Not meaning to be dickish but literally none of them were trades in the last 10 years ago.

Nah I'd welcome one.

Just one "yes North clearly won that trade" in the last 10 years.

I really like Parker and Darling but those are elder statesmen their clubs were happy to clear.
