Whilst i do want him dropped this week due to form and kane earning a place i still believe Ross is a player we keep going foward and he will be better when Richmond are better.

You dont need 22 champs

Ross is solid when our midfield is winning the ball. When oppo midfields get a hold of us, he often struggles to impact.

get the feeling hes been told to be an outside outlet but he rarely puts himself in a position to be used. hes trying to fill that lambert role but has nfi what hes doing.

No he doesn't. He's not clean enough inside. He's an outside mid. Without pace. Meh player. Played great round 1 as high-half-forward/outside mid, hasn't had a good game since.

I watched the replay and did some numbers on who took the game on and released players towards goal with creative disposal vs who goes the mundane long to contest/sideways kick to no improvement/short handball to it's your problem now or dump kick forward.
Ross was in a league of his own with his ability to release players forward, over double the next bunch of players.
I checked the stats and he's 1st in SI, 1st in SI% and 4th in Goal Assists over the season so it wasn't an anomaly.
Maybe a case of if you don't do anything wrong no one will know you're doing anything at all..
If he had more speed he would be a gun.

People get set against certain players and never see anything good from them. Ross has plenty of good, important touches.

Those calling for him to be dropped will be disappointed.

Why can't he play the half forward position?

I like him in this spot. He is leading the team in inside 50's convincingly and also leading the team in score involvements.

Yeah just not coming on yesterday was another poor effort. If he took him off instead of trainor we might just had held on.

He might not get it as often as we'd like, but he sets up play really well. Ross is like a lot of our players who come in for criticism, he does his job. We should have easily beaten GWS yesterday, from a bunch of first/second year players, what is your problem.
