No impact from his possessions tonight - Number of possessions flattered his game tonight.

Simply because we had no one working hard enough forward of the ball. It is not like he continually missed blokes who where open and free. Just about everyone who got the ball in the back half had no impact going forward because we had no bloody running or marking targets in front of them. One of our real problems going forward next year will be big marking targets forward of the ball. We will need a few of the big blokes to start clunking a few marks.

Can't believe people are criticising Zach's game last night.

Won a ton of ball on the inside and did the hard stuff in tight, hardly his fault the ball was butchered on the outside all night.

Tracking beautifully to have the perfect balance between inside/outside.

We should be rejoicing that we've got a 20 year old leading our midfield group.

ye. In the past 15 games he's played he's upped his career high for disposals 5 times.

37...

Make that 6 out of the last 18 games. He was starting to worry me there when he went 2 weeks without a new PB.

This is a funny forum - My post nowhere suggests Merritt had a bad game - Merely pointing out that his 37 possessions were fairly much anonymous.

Ideally you want forwards to get separation from their defenders by making space - Over-reliance on big guys clunking marks usually means you are playing down the line.

Disposal of many players who are usually good by foot has dropped this year, that the nature of 2016 for us.

foot skills drop off when you are not confident. Zerrett was one of our best kicks when he first started. it will come good again.

Have a look at Carlton last year compared to this. Someone like Walker was shanking so many kicks in 15.

Good kicks generally drop off once they get more inside. In Heppell's first year, playing HB, he was a fantastic kick. Sam Mitchell is the exception, though.

Cripps current game is a bit over-rated - Reads it well at clearances, gets his hands free when tackled but too often misses the first option when he has the ball - And of course he needs to develop his outside game.

Would take Bont over him anyday

50 games this week. That came around really fast. Crazy to think he'll still only be 20 after his final game this season.
