A bit of fun.
IF the Cats go nuts and kick 35+ there is the very real possibility that someone outside of SJ, Chappy, Mooney, Pods will kick 7+ goals.

Out of these 'unusual' picks who do you think can pull off a 7+ goal game.

Like I said, just for a bit of fun.

Note: I have Hawkins as unusual because I expect him to play plenty of time rucking.

Stokes is the only one I could see popping up for 5+ goals on saturday outside of the obvious guys you stated....outside chance of Bartel or Duncan who know where the sticks are

Wish Menzel was playing

Jimmy please for supercoach!

I reckon Duncan could have a big bag in him. If he plays wing/HF I doubt they will put much work into him and with some hard running into space could kick a few softies. Being a good kick for goal helps too.

I am surprised he isn't in the 22. Having said that, Kelly is carrying an injury, so I expect Menzel to come in for Kelly.

I went for Hawkins because if there's ever a chance he has to impose himself on weaker opponents this week is it!

I couldn't put Pods in there because he isn't an unusual option.
Get with the program guys :)

I think Pods is most likely out of the whole squad. That wasn't the point.
There'd be no fun in the thread if he was in. He'd get 88% of the votes.

What do you classify as a bag though? I'd say it varies for different players. For a midfielder/defender (Ling, Duncan, Bartel, Mackie, Lonergan are potentials), I'd say 3-4 qualifies. For our main forwards (Johnson, Pods, Chapman), it'd be 6-7+. And for secondary forwards (strictly in terms of goalkicking) like Hawkins, Stokes and Varcoe, it'd be 4-5.

That's how I'd classify a bag anyway...just giving a handicap based on the player.

Yeah fair call.

But I think 7 from any of those listed would be a bag in their eyes.

We're not going to kick anywhere near 35 goals. Our forwards have been inaccurate and impotent all year, we're fielding our worst team of the year by far, and the Suns are playing arguably their strongest 22 so far at their new stadium. Gold Coast aren't THAT bad - from what I've seen of Port Adelaide, they're not even the worst team in the competition.

We'll finish on 110-120, something like that, and that will be enough for a convincing 30-40 point win.

To answer your poll question though...I voted Stokes. Just cos.

reckon TV or Vardy.....

I could see TV getting loose on the end of a few.... and Vardy going forward getting the great delivery from the Mids just snagging a bag......

My 2 cents..

Go Catters....

Pods will kick 6 and then be subbed off in the third quarter (for Cowan) for a well earned rest.

I'm ropable Menzel isn't playing (hope he's a late inclusion) as he'd kick 5 and get a RS nomination!

Stokes is another chance for a bag.

I have no confidence in Mooney or Hawkins doing that and Vardy will be required in the ruck for most of the night.

The other left field option could be Jimmy if he plays permanent fwd.

Cats to ream the suns by 200+

Leaving them with a balloon knot the size of a Basketball Ring and mentally scarring them for the rest of thier existence.

Tomorrow night is for the record books folks.

You must be Veedubs' brother.

You must be Veedubs' brother.

Yeah, well, I don't know if you have a male sibling or not Sstew, but if you do, you must be his brother.

(It took me an hour or so to come up with that comeback, but I'd like to think it was worth it. I just wanted it to be something I could look back on with pride).

Why do we need someone to kick 7 goals plus if we were going to kick 35 as a side? After all, when we kicked the cricket score against Richmond at the start of our "run", our leading goalkickers that night had 4 goals each.

I'd prefer it if everyone on the park in blue and white hoops got on the scoresheet tomorrow night. Now, that'd be something. ;)

In the interest of this thread though, I tipped Duncan to bag the lazy 7.

Varcoe can kick 3 in 5 minutes, if it's a shoot out, surely he's the man, but we have to get the ball out of the middle first and with 2 second rucks up against Zac, it's going to be entertaining. This will prove the value of a dominant ruck, maybe, as Moloney can't steal a kick presently without Jamar. Pretty sure we can rove to Zac effectively.

stevie j will kick 12+

I just do not think that we have the forward fire power to kick a huge score. It is not 1992. There are no players in our side comparable to the Ablett, Stoneham, Brownless attack of the early 90's era.

You are right Rabbi. When I created this thread I found it very easy to pick those 7 players. In 92 it wouldn't have been so easy to find unusual options unless I picked backmen

FWIW I think we'll kick about 28 tonight based on our current game style.
But I'm hoping that we can use this game to break the shackles of the game plan and kick 35
