In todays herald sun, the ladder had a statistic as its last clolumn stating the game time percentage that teams have been in the lead during all games.

For Essendon, it is 31%.

Understandably we were lucky against the pies, and matched it with the blues in a close one.

However this stat is a lot lower for us in comparison with all the other teams that are 3-3 and above.

We are the lowest by far with Brisbane being 38% from memory and the rest of over 50%.

Not a good sign.

Just your thoughts people! Not trolling just found this an interesting stat.

Well we barley were in front in our three loses so that never helps. Personally I think it thats a great stat considering we are 3-3. It shows that we are starting to overrun teams.

Fair enough we seemto overrun teams but we should never let ourselves into that position to begin with. We havnt had the best starts and from there on in it has alway been a struggle getting back into the game.

We need to start strongly to be able to finish off games comfortably ahead...in the games we can win anyway.

Interesting stat but not surprised by it. We seem to start games slowly which means we'll be playing catch up for the rest of the match if the opposition gets a jump on us. A promising thing is though that we seem to be able to out run the opposition at the end where last year we were running out of legs. The next step now would be to prevent sides getting such a jump on us early

We have only won one first quarter this year (against Fremantle); with Richmond the only other team to have only won just one first quarter.

In fact we have scored 78 points to our oppositions 146 points in the first quarter.

We are very much slow starters! Sounds like we need a bigger rev up before heading onto the ground...

We've played 6 games and lost 3, quite sure in all of them we never got the lead.
against Fremantle was like the only game we were in control 16% (full game)
Carlton was like 50 50 8% as was collingwood.
yeah, 31% is about right.
DW though, we are still at 3-3, so that doesnt really matter.
Where is Melbourne at btw? surely if their above 50% no need to worry

we can barely kick a goal to save ourselves, is anyone surprised at such a nothing stat?

Stats can be extracted from any data set to prove or disprove almost anything, so when something like this is brought up many go 'ah so theres the problem' but its all bs - were just playing poor football more often than were playing good football...oh no another stat!:o
