A positive Tom Scully thread

Ok, so this means stuff all but thought I would post it anyway. I was just on my lunch break at Subway on St Kilda Road and while on my iphone reading Demonland, guess who wonders in? Yeah, a group of Melbourne players in their training gear. Fair to say the iphone was in the pocket pretty quickly.

The group consitsted on Garland, Blease, Cook, Howe and you guessed it...Tommy!

It was very interesting to observe the interaction between these players and note that Tom was not as shy and cold faced as everyone thinks. He was a normal kid. He was cracking gags, joking around with the boys and seemed to be happy and content.

I raise this as everything I have heard recently suggests otherwise. That he is an intravert, doesn't get along with the other players, goes straight home, doesn't socialise with the group etc. Albeit a very short encounter, I observed a completely different persona to that which some have described. Seemed to be mates with all the boys, enjoy a laugh and be just an ordinary guy.

So what does any of this have to do with him staying or going?? Nothing. But it was nice to see he has a fair few mates around the club. The type of mateship you hope lures him to stay on board and play his career out with these fellas.

Also FWIW Garland is one funny bugger. Cracks priceless gags and seems like a really good bloke. Also, if Garland can play on monster(ish) forwards, Lucas Cook can hold his own. He was taller and seemed just as wide. May lack the upper-body conditioning, but that aside, he will go ok !!!

One of my good mates has a cousin playing at the MFC, and he has said he is 100% certain that Sculls isn't going anywhere.

That's why I have never bothered getting involved in all these 500 post Scully threads, everyone needs to calm the **** down. Leave it til the end of the year and he WILL re-sign.

I have seen him interacting with the guys really well in the Richmond area as well before, I don't think he has any issues with them.

If he doesn't go out with them all the time it will be to do with the fact that he is a Morman and doesn't drink etc. But he will know how to cope with that, it will happen wherever he is.

In all honesty, I have said nothing on any Scully thread, on any forum, until now. What I will say is that countless people, some with friends inside AFL circles, have told me that a deal was done at the start of the year. However, I dont know, they don't know, The Ox don't know. There are 2 maybe 4 people who do know. That is Scully, GWS and his Manager. If he has signed, we will only know at seasons end. I dont plan to spend the next 13 weeks worring about it. I like seeing him in good form having a laugh with the boys today tho!

In other news, was anyone else disappointed with his game on Monday? Disposal was crap, was a bit slwoer then I hoped.

Still presented well at the same time and got himself in to the right positions, this is one of his keys abilities, reading the play well and getting himself into the right position for link up or to block the space depending on offensive or defensive.

well my best mate went to haileybury with scully and is quite close to him.
He told me Scully was certainly wavering and leaning towards GWS.

Anywy, I've been 50/50 on this whole Scully thing, first thought GWS, then Dees now i the middle. Surprised Fitz wasn't with them tbh. Our young guys seem to have groups: Watts, Trengove, Gawn, Tapscott and Morton go out weekle for dinner.
