place Ablett and Silvagni both in their primes aged late 20's, in the goal square one on one for a game, who would win?

When Ablett and Silvagni played on each other Ablett was well passed his prime playing at FF, but i believe it would have been a very very different story have ablett been in his prime years before.

Ablett said that if Silvagni played on him during his prime, Silvagni would need a miner's light, because he would still be out there looking for Ablett at 10' o clock that night.

Thems sound like words from a man who was pantsed.....
He did kick 9 goals on Chris Langford in the '89 grand final when he was in his prime, and Langford was a better Full back than Silvagni.

Had Silvagni played on Ablett that day, I reckon Gazza would have kicked more than 10 goals.

Maybe in your mind he would've...Silvagni was the best FB of the 20th century, Ablett was probably 5th or 6th best FF. Silvagni beat Ablett more often than not especially in the big games. Ablett bleating about what he could've/would've done, SOS not. Sorry if I have ruined your 1989 Cats v Hawks argument by introducing logic.

No he wasn't. His best years as a footballer was up at FF, because that's where his output was greatest.

Silvagni already beat Ablett in his prime... or close to it anyway.

Why?

Had Silvagni played on Ablett that day, I reckon Gazza would have kicked more than 10 goals.

Using that logic, Brown would've kicked more than 7 goals on Glass because that's what he did against Scarlett. But it didn't happen.

Silvagni had his measure most of the times they played on each other.

Salvagni would take ablett to school
ablett averaged just 2.9 goals aginst carlton
And so much for langford being better than silvagni
Ablett avergaed 3.9 goals against hawthorn
