Abortion

Your views concern me deeply. You evidently have no respect for women, nor indeed children, as you'd be forcing them to be born into far less than ideal situations.

Nope, you'd be forcing them in to backyard abortion clinics. Many would die.

Since when did what is 'necessary' ever become the defining element of an argument?

Surely you are more intelligent than that, Karl.

It is clear that my argument re: meat consumption being unnecessary for humans to live was made to refute FIGJAM's claim that it was necessary. By drawing a comparison between the lack of necessity of the wanton slaughter of livestock for food, and the (generally) unnecessary nature of abortion, my points regarding the real difference between these two acts come into greater focus.

Carry on then, I wasn't really sure who brought 'necessary' into it. Assumed it was you.

Sure why not.

Do doctors take pictures of every abortion they do? Or video? If they don't I think they should, and every woman and couple that decides to have an abortion should see it. To see what happens when they choose that path.

If you can't look at it after you make that decision then you know you shouldn't have made that decision at all.

It's pretty arrogant and condescending to think that people's personal views will be swayed by a photograph, as though you think pro-choicers have never seen a dead fetus.

I've seen dead animals before, both real and in a photo. Didn't make me a vegetarian.

I've seen photos of post-aborted fetuses. Didn't make me anti-abortion.

I believe they should be made to have the child and I think it's worth it the small chance of mental scars to bring a new life into the world.

Sure, and when the kid grows up and becomes a leech on society, committing crime and wasting tax dollars, you'll be complaining about that, too. Ironically, there's a measure that prevents some of those people from growing to that stage...

You are judging them on things they haven't even done yet. And people that don't even have a chance to exist. Disgrace.

Against. Satan rejoices everytime an abortion happens.

Are you sure about that? And if you are, why would he rejoice?

And what about "Satan's little helpers"? Are you concerned about them? Despite the evidence I've gathered against them, I've very fond of them. They are much better pets than dogs.

And you could say car accident victims in wheel chairs look like that too, dosen't make it right to murder them...

So, car accident victims in wheel chairs look like car accident victims in wheelchairs, and you find this worthy of comment? Or are you saying that prawns look like car accident victims in wheelchairs? Conversely, are you saying that foetuses look like car accident victims in wheelchairs?

I disagree with you about one thing - not dosing does not justify murder. No matter how mad we're driven by drug withdrawal, the murder of prawns in wheelchairs is unacceptable. Luckily, none of the prawns I've ever eaten have been in wheelchairs. Those who've attempted to eat them tell me the tyres are difficult to digest, not to mention chew. I won't mention the side serve of vegetables here, as that would be in very poor taste.

Edit: My bad. I've just realised what you were saying. Car accident victims in wheelchairs who are eating prawns look like foetuses. I'm glad we cleared that up. In future, I promise to read your posts more closely.

lol mate its good you can take the piss but it aint right to joke about something like this. I condone murder if the person being murdered is a person like dennis ferguson though:thumbsu:

Not all life is sacred then?

How fortunate we have you to make decisions like this on our behalf. Are there any foetuses you'd find equally disposable?

The below quote basically explains this whole debate:

Religious Believers as a group were found to be significantly less intelligent and more authoritarian than religious Skeptics

Yes, a life is not a life until it is 16 weeks old, or until it can move out on it’s own and pay rent, or until the mother can convince herself it is a life.

The Nazis did not consider Jews human, it made it very easy to kill them. The conviction was subordinate to the opportunity.

This is the human condition, if you cannot face who you are and what you will do to be who you are; you pretend other humans are not what they are.

There is no dignity in this position, and it reveals a lack of faith in the decision to kill for the greater good in the first place.

This post is up to your usual standard of lucidity. If you can tear yourself away from regaling us with your deep conviction that god 'just is', I'd be interested in hearing reports of your conversations with zygotes. Let me guess: they know god 'just is' as well. I'd further guess you found you had much in common with them.

You twist the point of life thing to be some sort of ploy by us to lie about our true intentions and mask the fact that we are really making excuses for murder. Nice, completely ignores the fact that a one week old shrimp is NOT A HUMAN! I mean if we were like deers where the mother could voluntarily abort fetuses through her own body, would we start charging mothers for murder? No, I think skilts is right, maybe we should have a chat with the spokesperson for zygote rights and see what he has to say. I'd sure make more sense than these damn anti-abortionists.

I fail to see anything that says "religion" or "god" in the post you are refering to. I disagree with him on his definition of a fetus being a life. I don't think you can consider something a life until it is born.

Everything alive expierences God.

And everything alive is alive once it is alive, so a political decision to say a conceived human life is not alive until I no longer feel comfortable killing it, is a cowards way out.

Some times we have to kill.

Be a man, accept it, and stand up to the horror that sometimes we have to comit to be alive.

That is, of course, assuming god is actually real. Right?

You can't bring religious arguments into abortion.

BTW, if everything "alive is alive once it is alive", how do you feel about killing yeast and bacteria? How about using mice and rats to find cures for cancer?
