It’s little bit of each isn’t it?

Pace pace pace - looks great but can they get hold of the footy. Can they use it. Seen plenty of very quick players fail. Getting obsessed with 1 particular trait seems a bit narrow.

Charlie Cameron's a great example of where speed wins you games .....also early days at the Crows, Betts still had speed of foot to chase down opponents and cause turnovers, but also panic amongst opposition defenders

Definitely a need to get another speedy small

murphy would wanna pull his finger out.. he’s next in the crosshairs.. the next whipping boy to melt over on selection night.

murphy actually had a half decent start to the season but was complete an utter dogshit after he came back from injury in the second half of the season. really showed why he originally went un-drafted..

He is not a forward at all and makes poor decisions, I think he could be a good player in the back pocket. Maybe replace Brown or Kelly back there

LOL Tom Morris as if Adelaide or Dawson's management are telegraphing their moves and for that matter the Swans, same with Lukosius and Rankine, journalists spit balling is something new? You don't have to be Einstein to work out we'd have interest in all those players and no doubt plenty of others....of course they're not from SA so it's a bit harder for Morris and his cohorts to dream up some names.

No, but a ruckman has the least effect by far.

Look at some premiership ruckmen...and you get your answer. Aaron Keating, Jamie Charman, Mark Blake, Brent Renouf, Tom Campbell, Shaun Grigg...etc etc.


Find me a spud midfielder amongst those cats/hawks/tigers sides.

I don't think Tim English sucks, but they would rather Young did hitouts, presumably because they don;t care that much about whether they win them.

An elite midfield?

Dynamic small forwards?

Pretty much every other position on the ground you need to have tremendous players in to win a flag - but a bunch of teams have run with mediocre ruckmen and done very well.

We maybe agree. I think ROB is absolutely the equal of ruckmen who have won premierships - and I'm not sure I really rate ROB ...

My mistake he played in 97 too, however he was returning from a knee injury.
We must've played Keating so that if Rehn went down we wouldnt have to move Pittman off of Loewe

Does hypothetically inserting Parker into the mix stunt the midfield development of the likes of Berry/Pedlar etc, considering we already have Keays/Schoenberg/Laird/probably Sloane rotating through there too? Even if Nicks increases the amount of players that rotate through the midfield, there is only so many rotations going around

Have you followed what’s been happening with the Bulldogs over the last few weeks and listened to Beveridge? They’ve faced a major dilemma with their rucks and it’s hurt their midfield. They were contemplating rushing in a severely underdone Martin back so they could play a decent ruck.

English is known as a poor ruck. It’s common knowledge and commented about frequently. He’s so bad they had Young take the ruck because they’d lose the hit outs anyway and could play English up forward.

Lycett smashed Young and their mids were beaten and they lost the game, should have been by a decent amount had Port kicked straight.
