Number of players selected as AA can be pretty misleading.
You had F/S being taken with 2nd or 3rd rounders like ablett and Hawkins.

You got guys like Franklin, Ablett, Dangerfield who have been 8 times tying up 3 positions for a decade
Then the ruck position is from a limited group so currently Max Gwan takes that.
Similar to Full Back where one guy often owns it for 2-3years.
A guy like Betts take the small forward how many times.
Even if the Key forwards weren't busts how many could be selected out of Patton, Schache, Boyd, McCartin, Weiderman, Mckay, Wright, Daniger, Butcher, JKK, Gumbleton etc etc
JKK, Franklin block most of the others out even if they were any good so statistics show you never going to be batting more than say 30%.

What it historically shows is they will fit in midfielders in where every they can. Fyfe on a wing, Dangerfield name on the HFF 3 years in a row.

How many positions in the AA team haven't been filled by a top 10 would be interesting especially by position.
HBF, Ruck, Small Forward I'm guessing would be highest position filled out side top 10 and 1st round.

Looking now with Bont, Petracca, Oliver, Walsh thats 4 positions tied up potentially for a while and a guy can come 10th In a brownlow as a mid and shouldn't make the AA side.

I must be only the only one watches all of Nicks’ press interviews. He mentioned it more than once throughout the season, said it was limiting Jackson’s ability to burst from stoppage. The only mystery is why we didn’t rest him sooner.
Same here

Hately was questioned several times this year by the media at Nicks Thur press conferences, Nicks flagged even before mid season that Hately issues theough his groin and hip areas that was impacting his running and kicking.

Playing Hately for most of the year seems a strange decision

My pet peeve is the perception that any player that has a bad year, or bad games, must have been injured

Sometimes the reason is poor preparation ...sometimes attitudinal ....sometimes somrthing in RL that de-focus's their attention to their job
Slightly comforting is the fact they haven't done this with Jones or McAsey.
If anything history says we tend to go this way of playing them through injury and justify it until is blatantly obvious there's an issue and more damage is done.

It's weird that people think the club is choosing to play injured players.

Players are grown adults, and they're saying whether they're feeling pain or need rest. Hately should have been a grown-up and done proper recovery, but that's not what happened.

If as supporters we can tell players are clearly playing injured & it's hampering their output, then I'm sure the coaching staff can tell too... particularly as they have inside knowledge of what injuries players are carrying.

Players don't like saying no to playing, so it's important the coaches & medical staff make the call when needed

This is one of the very areas I’ll deviate from player support. At the SANFL junior levels the kids are lauded for making team decisions regarding their bodies - a sign of leadership. Desperate to play BUT not in the teams best interest if your not 100%.

Ive seen a kid pull out as late as the final warm up, and the coach single him out for praise after the game for making the team first decision.

Harder in AFL when it can affect $$ I supposed but as a rule players must be more responsible in this area

Have you listened to the Steven May and Burgess interviews after the GF?

They didn't tell May how bad his hamstring was.
2nd quarter even Daisy picked up May's issue with a ground ball get.

One can argue even more so not to risk it in a GF like we did with McGovern.

GC complained Ablett wouldn't have surgery on his shoulder

Sloane didnt go for surgery this year.

Agree that if Hately had an issue it was a stupid decision by him or poor advice by medico's especially with nothing on the line.

Oh wait we sitting 7th after round 5.
Hopefully it didn't take us 15 weeks to concede we weren't going to make finals.

They have until the SSP window closes, really (February iirc)

Well thats a bit of a bummer, I was hoping to find out if we get any compo for Talia (given up hope for any for Lynch given they're talking about rookie list). I was also hoping to have any compo in before the trade period wraps up as it might help with trade stuff.

I wonder if they'd be allowed to train on if they weren't selected until Feb??

If they are signed after the initial free agency period ends then we won’t get compo.

No sane person can argue Matty R isnt losing it over the years.

Stating today Daicos wouldnt go until pick 3 would be VERY LONG odds

Hasn't this been reported multiple places? North seem like they want to stay at pick 1 and GWS may extend an olive branch seeing as they practically stole pick 2 from Collingwood last year. Would be a little cheeky for GWS to bid on Daicos with Collingwood's own pick.

Not that I have heard/read.

I would be putting good money on Daicos top 2 but that is a reasonable point you make

If North don’t bid on Daicos, they aren’t being ruthless. Part of maximising your own position in professional sport includes minimising your oppositions position. Any club in their position should be forcing Collingwood to spend maximum currency for the unanimous #1 player in the draft. It’s not like there is a risk they don’t match the bid, and even if they didn’t North get the best player.

True, but if they think JHF is the best player then they should pick him.

Haha, how long wasn't quite the question but literacy not too important these days if crypto trading. I was asking for input from sane people after all

Happy to put a little wager for ALL to view on our forum here Mr Global Corporate Executive Superior (not sure what you do but the above title based on posting historical details/s complex).

What would YOU like to bet on Daicos being drafted at pick 3 or higher? (not unlimited range from my perspective but healthy)

Time to man up :)
