Next up you'll be telling me diverging crazy like Collingwood offering fat Footy Show contacts to players who can barely string two words together that strangely line up with their playing contracts!

Of course I wouldn't believe you.

I guess a big difference is the players actually appear on the show and thus fulfill their commitment. We have zero knowledge of how much if any work these ambassadors do to earn their income. It is a blatant rort run by the AFL.

Yes. He would be the most popular player at the Suns comfortably. Just about every kid who follows the Suns up here wants to be like him.

There is an AFL community here, however the issue is most fans have already got a team and the Suns aren't doing anything to earn the respect of fans so they're not growing. I've been to almost every Suns home game and am a foundation member, but am still a Carlton fan no.1. I know lots of others that are the same. It's difficult enough to convert supporters, let alone when the team puts out performances like the Suns have.

No it's not. The AFL and VFL have always offered home state finals and not hone ground finals. The only corruption here is that your propt up team doesn't get to ANZ or the SCG to play finals against Sydney.

Yes we do. I'd like to know how the AFL assisted Hawthorn in keeping Lance Franklin.

I don't mind Gold Coast getting assistance, just as I don't mind any struggling club (Victorian or otherwise) getting some help if they need it. It's when the AFL continue to assist clubs who have played in the finals 13 times in the past 14 years, played in 5 Grand Finals and won 2 flags that I get annoyed.

GWS is the same. Ive only ever met one person who is a GWS supporter and doesnt support any other team. All the others I know are members / or supporters of other teams.

If everyone knows who Tom Lynch is, what would he actually do as an ambassador that would justify his extra money? How would we ever know he is doing these things? This is just making sure that you never get close to having a level playing field in the AFL.

Weird to include the club they gave Ballarat from the club you didn't include which they tried to move to the Gold Coast 10 years ago.

Not everyone knows who he is, but obviously the AFL community does.

You are aware that an ambassador isn't someone who expands the awareness of themselves? Even if everyone on the coast knew who Tom Lynch was that would only be a positive, as he'd be a recognisable figure who's trying to grow the game. An ambassador would be someone who'd work to grow the game in different ways and essentially be the face of the AFL on the Gold Coast. Gary Ablett has been that person since he arrived, but with him likely not hanging around anymore it's not surprising to hear the AFL look to the next person.

Footy on the Gold Coast, and Sydney for that matter, isn't the same as footy on in Melbourne or Adelaide. Kids here are only really exposed to league. Schools only play league, it's on TV none-stop, there's next to no AFL in the newspapers or on TV aside from game-day. It's a lot more work to expose people to the game, and guys like ambassadors should play a larger role in the community doing this by visiting schools/functions/auskick etc. They would be putting more work in that the rest, not just in training or on gameday. (Although I must say thus far into there history the Suns have been awful at exposing themselves to the community, hardly every visiting junior clubs and things like that)

Yeah that's why it's difficult. It's the next generation that are important. It'll be hard to get grown ups to shift teams, but kids who go to games all the time or watch them on TV are much more likely to support them into adulthood.

The thread is about AFL corruption, my post was pointing out a corrupt fixturing.

Geelong finished 2nd on the ladder. They requested a home final. There home ground is in Geelong and their second home ground is at Etihad stadium, yet they are fixtured to host a final at the MCG.

For some reason the Nazi's at the AFL seem to think that everyone will love and adopt the game wether you are from the Gold Coast or Beijing. They are tools of the highest order the lot of them. Yeah it was and kind of still is a great game, dosent mean you can just impose it on whatever cultures you like anywhere in the world. They really are a bunch of clowns.

But apparently the GC should force Ablett to stay or retire, carry his salary in the cap, and cut their nose off to spite their face because their salary cap doesn't matter.

Sounds like you're mad that Gold Coast expect something of value from Geelong in exchange for a contracted player that could help you win the 2018 flag.
