Nah. The rules state that the higher placed team gets a home State final, so games have to be played at those venues. But SS is MUCH more of an advantage than playing any other side anywhere. Why do you think they have such a great record there? One side of the ground's almost straight FFS!

Where did I mention the rules? I was querying your bizarre assertion that on the basis Skilled is too great an advantage it's inappropriate to play finals there. Skilled is not the biggest home ground advantage in the league, especially to another Victorian based side. C'mon, you can do better than a straw man argument.

Other clubs CAN get it, its just theres no promotional value to the game in doing so. At least this was the reasoning behind Hunt and Folaus pay. Its very much in the AFLs interest that Gold Coast succeed.

Where were you last year when you played Hawthorn in the same game? You didn't say boo! Maybe because every year you choose to play Hawthorn on Easter Monday at the MCG no matter whose home game it is. You request this as part of your fixture. FACT. Suddenly, because it's Richmond, you start whingeing and whining like a little kid (which you may well be of course).

They won't do that, they've already made it clear that they can change the 'home state' rule with 2 weeks notice. They also won't do that because some teams are more equal than others and deserve games at the MCG while others don't deserve the same opportunity.

It should be in Geelong. There are many other basic common sense decisions that 'should be' as well. Gil just makes this stuff up as he goes. People seem to love it though. Makes no sense to me.

Geelong earned themselves a home final. Yet they are playing at the G. That isn't right. The game of Australian Rules should be a common sense game. Not a game that shifts and moves things just for a $$. At the end of the day this is still a sport, and teams still play for the chance to host a home final (giving themselves a better chance to win). Geelong did that, yet they are playing at the G. It is not right for the AFL to do that. It is not right for the AFL to do a lot of the things it does. It isn't right for the AFL to allow some teams to have ambassadors, and others do not get that luxury.

Yes, there is. Club contracts stipulates a certain amount of promo type work, but it's limited, clubs cannot just continually roll out star players.

Either the promotion work from high profile players ends, to the detriment of the club and the league, or the player gets paid extra for work outside the conditions of the contract.

But wait, players are not allowed to be paid extra outside the contract, what a dilemma, what to do?

What would you suggest?

A really high profile player with huge marketing potential has reached the limit of their 'extra' work, early in the season. Stopping community work harms the club and the league.

How would you proceed?

If Geelongs stadium could only hold 1000 people is that still OK? If not, how large does it have to be before it is ok?
The tax payer has paid for Geelong's stadium. Geelong has contributed less than 10% of the cost. As a tax payer and member is it not fair that I gave a right to get a reasonable chance to get to see my team play live?
The rule has always been a home state final and nobody has ever said it is unfair before. Why all of the sudden now?
Is it fair that Geelong gets a huge home ground advantage during the year to allow it to win more games more easily than teams playing at more neutral venues? It then plays such a team in a final at this same neutral venue, the same one it requests itself to play at on Easter Monday, and then complains it wants it back in Geelong. Incredible.

It isn't as straightforward as you stated above. Fairness has to run both ways. One team cannot possibly get all the advantages all of the time.

I'm not against academies until you are a well established side with success. After a team is established the academies should persist but the access to players to all teams should be made more even.
So the Giants and GC can have academies but Sydney should open up its academy to all teams with only having a slight advantage.

So by using the logic that rules that have been established and no one complains about them should persist, this rule needs tweaking as there have been many complaints since its inception.

So the rules about home ground advantage need tweeking.

You keep on with this no one complained before yet youre not new so i can only assume youre just being argumentative.

Don't know about corruption but they are incompetent when it comes to finals ticketing.
In Advertiser this morning, there are still 1100 tickets available for Adelaide v GWS final even though its been "sold out" for over a week
Seems GWS couldn't sell all the tickets allocated to them so it takes a week to retrieve them for resale !!
Those tickets should have been available late last week if not sold, after all as members of Adelaide, we had 4 hours in which to buy our tickets last Tuesday week
Same thing happened against North Melbourne last year

Ambassadorial roles suggested ahead of time to stop existing players from leaving their own club at the end of their contract (by paying outside the cap) is relatively new, so I have raised the issue as being unfair. If you cannot see the difference between the two situations you need to go back to school and have some lessons in clear thinking.

This is a very reasonable post. The use of the word corrupt is not applicable as you have eluded to. Saying the system needs to be improved is much more accurate.

That is your warped view on it. Most reasonable people are not saying the ticketing rule is corrupt. As the above poster mentioned, there are problems with ticket distribution timing but you're really stretching things calling that corrupt. Try again.
