The Cats paid three R1s for a player who is a star.
This is a highly misleading version of that trade.

They are very close friends.Him and caddy aren’t best mates
Position is a large reason why hes dropped off. Gone from HBF to HFF with no cbasBack issues scare me & this in the preseason must have been bad considering he’s dropped off a cliff this year.
They aren’t very close friends. They know each other like most good players in their draft year know each other. They are very close friends.

Then we play Mckay and Laverde when they both miss at the same time
But ultimately if any sides best players are out for the year they will also be in trouble
I think it's at the point we have to do something. Instead of sitting by and watching them get long term injuries every year. It's almost a guarantee.
If we don't get a genuine 4th "backup", like a Jeremy McGovern backup type. Then we need to make a tough decision on one of Reid or Ridley.
I'd obviously prefer the backup - a break glass in case of emergency option ie Goldstein.
We have, his name is Laverde and was one of our best last week. That's about the best you can ask for for your fifth key defender.
Turns out I've over simplified it;This is a highly misleading version of that trade.

This has been my thought over the past few weeks. Two firsts this year and the 2027 first as it’ll likely get eaten up makes sense with maybe a second along the way coming back to us.something we're probably not speaking about enough is if the AFL does decide to bring in future trading of 2 years ahead. Does that bring into play our 2027 draft picks? if yes, (1) thats the Tassie draft, and (2) Koby Bewick draft
could bode well for us to look into that early pick if we decide to go down the Harley Reid trade path (3 firsts probably the asking)
I think his family have already moved back to Melbs and he has been staying here a bit longer when they play play games down south. Could be a good assistant coach option next yearHe's probably settled down in shitney and wouldn't be interested but even with the injury Cal Ward is the sort of player we would benefit from bringing in for the leadership aspect.
A backup is fineI think it's at the point we have to do something. Instead of sitting by and watching them get long term injuries every year. It's almost a guarantee.

A backup is fine
We have Laverde as the backup 5th though at the moment

I'm gonna take Mitch Cleary's word over yours on this one. And the fact that they've been seen spending time together in offseason.
Oh boy Guelfi and Hobbs, west coast fans can't wait, lets throw in Ricky Dyson as well.Guelfi and Hobbs are both Fringe Best 22 assuming a healthy list (and in danger of being pushed out by the new academy draftees) and picks worth about 2000 draft points feels like the going rate.
It’s a steep price to pay but it’s a highly competitive market and chances at this level of talent don’t come around that often
How do you know whether they’re close or not?Mitch is saying close friendship which is some journo mayo on top. You were claiming they’re best mates. That’s a long way different. I’m not saying they aren’t friends, Harley would be mates with most of the guns out of his draft year, usually happens every year with the best players who come through the system together. You said they’re best mates, his best mate is Cooper Harvey.
How do you know whether they’re close or not?
Suspect this discussion has crossed into the semantics lane. How do you know whether they’re close or not?

ALB seems very confident they’re not close friends. Thought he might be personally connectedSuspect this discussion has crossed into the semantics lane.![]()

He's (allegedly) not a great judge of character then...?.... his best mate is Cooper Harvey.
