Sherman + 3rd rounder
OR
Riska +3rd rounder

Would that be unfair?
Would this interest the Pies, would we do this?

If Didak (brand new 3 year contract and all) ends up on the Brisbane list I'll be gobsmacked - and I've been previously advised on this board " if you think Brown would leave the Lions you're off your rocker " - it's bookmarked

If somehow Didak is not retained by Collingwood, one guess only at whom the huge replacement offer would be aimed at,given the circumstances at present

In groundbreaking news this morning, it is believed that the Pies, after lengthy over night discussions have received permission for numerous Lions players to assist their club with the disciplining of both Shaw and Didak.

Sources close to the club have revealed this unusual request for assistance is totally due to the Lions renowned ability to kick behinds. ;)

On the topic of Didak to Brissy? No Thanks! But I would entertain getting Rioli.

But lets face it neither will happen.

Can't see Collingwood getting rid of Didak for anything short of Cousins-level stupidity. He'll end up getting a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again.

Didak will be sacked, there is no doubt about it, he won't play at Collingwood next year. He has sat back and let Shaw lie for him, watched McGuire, Malthouse and Burns say that he wasn't involved. What he has done this time is publicly made fools of the 3 most important figureheads of the Collingwood footy club. The only way this can end is in Didak being sacked.

This will obviously derail what Collingwood supporters feel Didak is worth. The club will want to move him on at any costs, therefore it is will be 2 things, one i think they will gauge interest and want Allan to choose his club out of the ones interested and then deal him there. For his own personal life they won't just send him anywhere.

A reasonable deal might involve

McGrath and our second round pick for Didak a 3rd round pick. I dare say Collingwood won't give him away but they can't hold clubs to ransom. They will want to move him on.

If they sack him, then his contract is torn up and he goes into the PSD. Collingwood get nothing for him. Or they may choose to stand him down until the end of the year on the basis that they will then trade him.

But they can't sack him and then look to trade him.

A fair and reasonable assessment acuguy, I can see parallels to the transfer of Aker to the Doggies for a less than market value trade, players choice of club and a possible splitting of previously agreed contractual payments.

The scenario outcome may also be totally reliant on any behavioural clause in the contract and the actual conclusion date of the current or old contract.

Yes he is a brilliant footballer but would a change of city/club change his persona? I for one would have doubts.

I know myself I have been to parties and have been in cars with people I didn't know. Do I regret going with the flow and having some fun every now and then? No, and I would object to people telling me I couldn't. I think we are far too intrusive in telling footy players what they should and shouldn't be doing and it's becoming like Big Brother (Orwell not Gretel). Didak should have told Shaw not to drive, but ultimately Heath Shaw is responsible for Heath Shaw, not Allan Didak. I'm not saying Didak is an angel, just that his bad boy reputation seems to greatly exceed his actual sins.

Ok, so tell me this - If you were Alan Didak and you were at a Brothel where a complete stranger comes up to you, tells you he's a big Collingwood fan and offers you a ride home, would you take it? It's very different when you're at a party and, chances are, there are plenty of people who know the driver even if you don't. And I am not saying Alan is at fault for Shaw getting behind the wheel - Heath will take the punishment that's heading to him. As for telling players what they can and can't do, you'll never hear me say that a player can't go out and have a few drinks but what he did was plain stupid.

If roster watch is right about Proud wanting to head back,
Proud + 2nd rounder.

I'll be taking that one (that rumour that is)with a grain of salt.

If everyone knows Didak is trouble, and on his way out of the club, think Collingwood supporters are perhaps overestimating his relative worth in a trade in that scenario.

FWIW I think they hold onto him.

I agree with you, he has hurt the club.

Problem Collingwood has though is the new contract just signed. I think they need to sack him but how much of the contract will they be required to pay. Plus if they trade him, how much of Didak's new Salary will Collingwood need to pay when Didak arrives at his new club.

Will clubs pay any more then a minimum wage for him?

He has broken the current contract (valid until the end of year) that has the behaviour clause in it
I'm sure the behavior clauses went as soon as he signed his new deal, which is why I think the club will be fuming even more. It almost appears as if he was waiting till the clauses went out so he could get on the piss again.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but by being out late and drinking (which the club always knew he had done) wouldn't he have broken a clause already?

The new contract is for 2009/2010.. the current contract covers 2008
Fair enough.

I always wondered actually, Didak signed his previous contract before the Melbourne CBD shooting incident didn't he? Were Collingwood able to include the clauses into his then current contract somehow

Without putting too much thought into it, yes, I would have him in a second. He is the kind of player we are desperate for. You cant tell me, on present form, opposition are overly worried about our small forward brigade - they only have to stop B&B, in fact they dont even have to do that, to have a fair chance of beating us.

When I start thinking about it, I would still entertain him at the Lions. Totally different but along the same lines - Martin Pike wasnt exactly a poster boy for Cottees Cordial or Aeroplane Jelly.

2 random thoughts.

1. Didak has proven himself to be dishonest now... does this cast doubts over his 'innocent' encounter with Hudson.

2. Collingwood just signed him onto a new deal for 400k a year. His value has probably plummeted now. If Collingwood trade him, they may end up having to pay part of his salary at his new club.

Voice of reason as always TBD. I would think that Collingwood would be lucky to get as much as Melbourne got for Travis Johnstone. Personally think that Travis is in the Pikey mould, troubled past but can't shake the reputation. Didak appears to be in the Adam Heuskes category, complete dick/repeat offender.

If they sack him, then his contract is torn up and he goes into the PSD. Collingwood get nothing for him. Or they may choose to stand him down until the end of the year on the basis that they will then trade him.

But they can't sack him and then look to trade him.

Voice of reason again. I'd much rather have Ben Cousins if it came down to a choice. Cousins had / has an addiction, Didak is an idiot. One is treatable, one is permanent.

Collingwood will look to make an example of Didak, correct compensation for him will be a secondary matter, they will want him gone, the line in the sand scenario.

But this is the point. If they sack him, they get nothing in return. I'd be surprised if they do that. While compensation is a secondary consideration, they are running a business and you don't give away an asset for free when you can achieve the same result (ie Didak gone) and get something in return. The principle only goes so far, when an extra high-ish draft pick might be on offer. They'll simply stand him down for the rest of the season, upon which one of three things will occur:

1. He'll be traded and Collingwood will cut their losses.

2. He'll refuse to be traded and go into the PSD.

3. By mutual agreement, they'll amend the contract for the next two years.

You have to laugh at the players' stupidity to think they could get away with their story. FFS, it is Melbourne! Everyone knows the footballers by sight.

You can imagine it in Brisbane. Yeah, the other guy was a fit looking, rat faced bloke with dark hair. Recognise him? Nah - he was a nobody.

I have a massive problem with this guy - if he hadn't slunk off after his 'ride of terror' and layed low ( only to be flushed out when the cops found his mobile phone no. ) for a week, a family may still have a dad. He's a coward .. and a lying one at that.

Unless he showed appropriate contrition and steps up, don't touch him.

I still say to win a premiership your group has to be better than the sum of the individuals and you want guys who contribute to this ethos. Everything I have heard about Didak is the opposite - great individual but makes the team worse with poor attitude and damages the culture within.

Stay away Lions please.

Who cares how "good" this twerp is as a footballer.?

Track record suggests a totally selfish, dishonest and unreliable individual.

I endorse your comments wholeheartedly

On the whole Collingwood issue, Burns' comment at the press conference that he would struggle to go in to bat for Heath Shaw had to be one of the more candid responses from a player ever.

I though it felt very contrived to be honest. Maybe I am too cynical.
