Scott's original comments were childish and lacked class.

Williams' comments were childish and attention-seeking and lacked class.

The end result is that the PAFC looks childish and low class for airing its dirty linnen in public.

The full focus of Williams' speech should have been on Port's achievement in winning it's first AFL flag, rather than the coach using it as an opportunity to square up on the basis that "he started it".

Do you honestly expect that the premiership team in the largest, most supported sporting league in the entire country, is going to have trouble finding a sponsor?

One as good as Alan Scott ? Probably yes. Clarkson isn't going to be replaced and money is tight at Port. North Melbourne posted a loss in '96. Port's problem is that Adelaide got in first and has the lion's share of support. Frankly, any club which puts a major sponsorship at risk for the personal satisfaction of its coach is asking for trouble.

Dear Mr Scott,

If you'd like to be associated with a club with a recent history of success with public authorities, which will treat you with respect and whose coach won't bag you in public, give Campbell Rose a call on 03 9689 3100. Johnny Howard looked good in the scarf. You'll look even better.

SOUR GRAPES

Did you actually READ what I posted?

I said the focus should have been on the club's achievement on winning the Flag.

Do i have to spell it out??

OK.....I will...

Congratulations Port Adelaide FC for your fantastic win on Saturday. Clearly the best side in the H&A season, clearly the better side on GF day and clearly a richly deserved AFL Premiership.

Does that sound like SOUR GRAPES?

The topic is about whether Williams comments were appropriate in a public forum ....that is when giving his acceptance speech on GF day.

Whether you or every other Port supporter in the world agrees with me or not, is beside the point.

My opinion is that I think it is a pity that the achievement of your Club, your players AND your coach are now, right here on this board and inevitably in the media, playing second fiddle to some extent, to the need for your coach to massage his own ego in public.

That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
