No Judd?

You're kidding yourself.

He isn't even the best mid for Carlton this year. Most Carlton supporters have said Murphy is having a better year. Judd would be borderline AA so far this year.

You really love Chris Judd don't you?

Corey Enright is ahead of Deledio and Adcock by some margin. He's been fantastic.

Also, Geelong are undefeated yet Selwood is the only player in the side and on the bench at that.

Bartel is in on a half forward line
Geelong fans would be the first to acknowledge that Enrights last month has been average at best for him. Certainly way off his normal form.
Bartel not exactly AA standard either.

You;re working backwards from who is winning and looking for quota. Its an individual award based on position.

You're kidding yourself.

Yeah, I figured I'd get the "No Judd" replies. Who does he replace in your view? I said he's close and you could maybe he could sneak in over some but he's no lock in my eyes. Murphy has been better for starters. Maybe for Swan given his recent form.

Corey Enright is ahead of Deledio and Adcock by some margin. He's been fantastic.

Weird time to say this. He was good to start the season but tailed off badly lately. Pretty average lately in fact. Adcock, Deledio and Shaw ahead for now.

When you stop and look at that side it's actually pretty silly.

Jamison is a Fullback for starters, Macpharlin a CHB.

I realise that. It's just positions anyways. More interested in getting the names in for now. I copied the format from previous posts because I was lazy. I'll change it if it pleases you.

Also, Geelong are undefeated yet Selwood is the only player in the side and on the bench at that.

Yep. Who else would you have in? Very even this year but Selwood is the one that stands out for me. Bartel, Enright, Kelly, Scarlett and co could sneak it but I have others slightly ahead.

Bartel is in on a half forward line ahead of Embley.

Maybe. Embley has got more of the ball on average and kicked more goals on average. Again, another 50/50 sort of call. I went with Embley, could go with Bartel.

Scarlett ahead of S. Fisher easily.

Fisher has been the only standout for St Kilda this year trying to hold the backline together hence why I put him in. Scarlett has no doubt been very good too. It's not easily as you put it but this is the one other that I was pretty questionable on.

Just because you say a player should be in doesn't make it fact. ;)

Oh bless, someone who actually believes that betting markets count for something when talking about football.

As for Enright being ahead of Deledio, well Deledio has been best or close to best on ground in at least three matches, against the saints, lions and dons. Against the roos and freo, he was superb as well. Apart from Enright's first two games, he's been fairly meh. It's not unforeseeable to see Deledio poll in at least four games this season, which is above Enright.

Call me biased, but yeah, Deledio has been a better back flanker or running back than Enright. Leads Enright in all the statistical categories too, for what it's worth.

Betting logic: Krakouer is a better chance to win the brownlow than Deledio, Thomas, Mundy, Fyfe and Sylvia. This is why betting markets have no relevance to debates about players.

My team so far. Yes, there's no Judd. Sue me. He's been good but not great IMO. Maybe 1 BOG. I watch a fair bit of Carlton and Murphy has been better IMO. Changing of the guard there. Judd is next in line though no doubt. Maybe he can be in over Selwood but Selwood has been great since coming back from being knocked out and getting back into the swing of things. Geelong's best with a few BOG's and they haven't lost a game. Also could be in over Swan who I'm really not sure on. Not in the same form as last year. R.Griffen is a very stiff one as well. If Swan has another average game or 2, he's straight in. Also a toss up between him and Boyd.

S.Thompson is very underrated too. Pavlich is an interesting one. Statistically very good but not having the impact on matches of others so far this year. Turning the ball over a fair bit. If he can't fit into the midfield given he's now plays there (only 5 goals) I don't see a spot for him. I wasn't sure on Kennedy but 10 goals pushes him over the line for now, how could it not? Competing with Cloke for a spot as 3rd tall. Crameri is stiff but very quiet on the weekend so just slips out. A kid did a number on him on the weekend.

Next in line - R. Griffen, C.Judd, D.Martin, H.Scotland, S.Crameri, S.Mumford, etc.
Nice to see opposition supporters are noticing Thommo's work this year, he has been brilliant. I would hope he receives at least a bench spot this year, pending form of course.

But we are a one man team (Judd), so how can any other Blues player even be considered????:(:(

Selwood and Scarlett should be in for Geelong certainties
others in contention could be Kelly, Bartel, Chapman, Enright, Corey, Taylor

Agreed, this is not BF worthy. It is not in the spirit of the Carlton rule which state the following:

"Step 1: Lose to Carlton

Step 2: Complain about umpires

Step 3: Say you would have won if Judd wasn't playing".

Swan, Boyd or Selwood. Also line ball between him and Pendlebury (although sort of takes an outsidish player and adds another insider).

Certainties for mind (at this time of the season) are Cox, Franklin and perhaps McPharlin. Couple others should make it, like Watson but injury may change that equation.

Sandilands will have to fight hard in the second half of the year now that he is missing a month.

My five cents worth:
No Cotchin. Just utterly rediculous!
I'm actually only partially kidding. That kid has been amazing and would nudge Boyd or perhaps even Swan out at this rate. Should certainly fall into consideration.

I think Cotchin is about a year away from being a lock. Still pretty young and going to have his down weeks. On the fringe at the moment but too many good more mature midfielders to compete with I'd say. Very hard to get a spot in there. But yeah, he's been great. 24-25 touches a game, about a goal a game and #1 clearance player in the AFL while getting the tag.

Didn't say he was a lock. Just should come into consideration.

Daisy Thomas has been playing out of his skin this year, not sure he'd be in just yet but he's popped up in a very visible way every time he's been needed and the media commentators seem to be all over him this year. Don't know who he'd knock out, I don't pay enough attention to opposition teams but he's probably in Collingwood's top 2-3 players as it stands.

More of an outside player than Judd, Boyd and Selwood (usually). That's all I meant.
Therefore, if Judd or Cotchin were in the team ahead of Pendlebury there would be too many inside mids in the team.

I don't think that's really taken into consideration when choosing the AA side. They aren't actually picking a team to take on the 2nd best 22 the next week.

It's the best players make the side... pretty simple.

Probably a few howlers in there, havent really read the thread, but its my first thought and first shot at it.
