-Shocking performance and Farmer, Johnson and Solomon likely to have a date with the tribunal.
-Roos had numbers at the fall of the ball all game. We looked slow at times (especially our defenders).
-Umpiring was poor (not that it affected the result).
-Walker was very good again.
-Centre clearances below par in second half.
-Duffield and Hasleby were good early.

5- Leigh Brown
4- James Walker
3- Josh Carr
2- Duffield
1- Browne

Again we have let their players run amuck by allowing them to play loose men while having to put up with tight man on an footy and not being able to win the ball in the centre.

We have some major problems which could be exposed easily by better teams outside Perth that will prevent us from not only win the flag but being in the top four again. This is now the fourth time in a row we have really struggles against the Kangaroos, while they have second guessed us easily through the same tactics.

I really wish the coaches would do something about the Pavlich situation. You can't let someone like him go cold during a match because they are double teaming him. Sure Tarrant may fix that when he comes in, but why not push Pavlich into the middle when/if he is double teamed. We have enough forwards to replace him but no massive running bodies (with appropriate skills) like his in the center.

Roos just wanted this one more, much much more.

The only really worrying thing is that we might be back playing the soft zonal footy that plunged us into the depths of mediocrity in 2005. There really was no accountability and no urgency. They wanted to win and it showed. But not a lot of cause for concern as long as we can get our intensity up for round 1.

Good to see Haselby getting some touches and Sandi taking a few marks above his head though.

Who are the remaining sides in the NAB cup?

I rest my case...Would not be reading a hell of allot into it AT ALL.

If we walk away without Injury's its been a plus.

McPharlin did OK, but Lach72 was right in that he looked like he couldn't give a rats. Have a look at his attempt to stop the ball just before Brown ran onto it and scored a goal. It was like he had his mind on other things and he just put in a half arsed effort. Maybe he's been hanging around Dessy too long.

Reminded me of the first half of 2006, don't have to go all the way back to 2005 to see us playing disinterested football. Our team was almost full strength, the players missing aren't the biggest impact players (though would be nice to get Black back). The roos aren't a good team so this is just.. embarassing. The Hawks and Roos sure know how to defeat us.

I would have preferred them to win but having a bad game now is not that bad a thing.

Concerning was how our back half handled the Kangaroos forward pressure (which was superb) and some of the key matchups in defence where players like Leigh Brown (love him), Thompson and shannon Grant beat their opponents convincingly.

We struggled with the game plan and were forced to kick to poor percentage options in the forward line. Peake hasn't had an impact in the last two games while Headland was hardly spotted.

On the plus side Hasleby, JLo, Walker, Browne and Sandilands looked dangerous. The reports while bad will give opportunities to others and the loss will be a nice early wake up call to not get ahead of ourselves. For goodness sake it is the second preseason game and we are talking top 4.

I wouldn't be worried if we weren't trying to win the NAB CUP, but it seems we set ourselves to, and now we have failed. The other "good" teams had lots of good players not playing whereas we fielded a nearly full strength lineup (though the fitness might not be 100% yet in some of them). If we fielded lots of new players and rested our top line I wouldn't be caring, but yeah.

Duffield by far our best along with Brown and Sandi, Belly was good early.

Most of the rest were pretty quiet. Headland and Gilmore were ordinary.

Kangas made us look slow. Definitely need more speed in the middle.

I wouldnt be too worried. Only thing that would worry me is the players your defence. It was woeful today to say the least

We played a more committed team, with more to play for.
There were too may passengers !!
Dessie had a shocker, and should find his place in the team under huge pressure. If he doesn't we will never win a flag !!

Am I right in thinking that nab cup games count if you get suspended in the preseason but regional challenge games don't? If so then losing today could really hurt us.

Hopefully I'm wrong but I expect Johnson to get 2 weeks and Farmer 3-4 weeks. Solomon and Longmuir should be okay.

Today showed just how important a player like Tarrant is going to be for the club. Murphy is just not good enough yet to make the opposition think twice about playing 2 & 3 players on Pavlich and the team just had no one presenting across half forward.

5. Browne
4. Duffield
3. Sandilands
2. Haselby
1. Carr

Fair call. They were under a ....load off pressure though, but our defence is one of our strongpoints so I'm not worried. The midfield was yje problem again ,and that needs to be sorted.

Where was Peake playing today - it didn't seem to be his usual on ball position to me and we certainly missed his run out there?

A pretty poor effort all round - the backline certainly doesn't look great at the moment so maybe there is an opportunity for Robbie Haddrill to step in next week.

In all reality it was a 9 point loss and when you consider some of the very poor kicking at goal (ie Sandilands from straight out in front) it's not that bad. Might be a good wake up call to let them know they can't take any team lightly - better that it happen now than in the season proper.
Was great to see Browney and Hase playing so well and a few players could take note of Walkers desperation.

It also shows the reluctance of the coach to put Pavlich in the middle when he starts getting double and triple teamed. You can't let the best player in our team have no impact on the game, which is the case when no one can step up and "get free" when there are 2 or 3 players on Pav. Tarrant hopefully will make the defense think twice, but he isn't here yet and we rarely see Pav in the middle even when we know he can make a big presence there.

I'd like to see Pav play at least a quarter on the ball or in the midfield every game, unless we are dominating easily. Our middle is just not good enough (yet) to constantly deliver the ball good enough to our half/forwards against every opponent. Pav on the ball also means he can help out our defense every now and again.
