have similar strengths, played similar positions, resulting in similar outputs in 2011.

who would you pick for your team in 2012.

Walker took his game to another level last year, Crameri surprised everyone with his season last year but Walker still has him covered.

If Crameri can take his game further he'll surpass Walker though.

Walker is probably a better fit for most clubs though, as he kicks more goals.

I like Crameri for our side. Has a bit more grunt and can run around a heap. Gets a few more touches and has some real presence up forward. With Hurley and Ryder making tall targets who can kick well I think Crameri's abilities complement us better.

All depends what you're looking for. Will be interested to see if either of them can match their 2011 form, or improve.

Picked Crameri because of the OPs criteria, but Walker is probably a safer bet.

similar outputs? really....

crameri is a great bull to have in your fwd line but walker has him covered in every facet of the game....speed, endurance, disposal, kicking, marking etc. this would be a simple deciion for most.

highly doubtful.

Know anything about Crameri aside from a few games he played last year? He was drafted as a mid and played for Bendigo as a mid. He has a good tank, is no slouch and is a fantastic kick. Walker has a better leap but Crameri is stronger contested mark.

Walker is ahead right now, but considering he's 2 years older, had 6 more seasons and played 105 more games he'd bloody want to be ahead. Will be interesting to see how both do in their second seasons up forward.

I voted Walker because he's a better player, but I'd prefer Crameri at the Swans as opposed to Walker, if that makes any sense.

I voted for Walker, x-factor, neat kick at goal, best engine at the Blues and very versatile; but Crameri is a gem and a couple of years younger than Walker to boot. Tough on the ground, strong mark, gets the score on the board and brings his teammates into it. A real find for the Dons. Can anyone tell me where he finished in the Dons B&F? Surely a top 10 finish?

Yeah, 8th. Missed a couple of games too.

Walker is probably better but Crameri would win in a fight.

Don't know about that. Pretty sure it was Walker who along with Betts and Houlihan, spent a good part of a pre season(about 3 weeks), a couple of years back, in a boxing gym as punishment. They were all trained until they threw up.;)

Walker is one of, if not the, fittest players at Carlton (regularly wins time trials) and is also one of the fastest/quickest.

Not sure how Crameri ranks at the EFC, but no it's not "highly doubtful" that Walker has him covered in these areas.

highly doubtful to walker having crameri covered in 'every' facet of the game, as the post i replied to stated.

crameri has no issues with endurance, speed or agility, especially for someone tipping the scales at 96kgs.

area of concern for crameri is kicking, can shank it with the best of them at times.

haven't seen anything in walker's game that indicates a clear level of superiority over crameri. however, walker is currently the better player, and its up to crameri to get to the same level.

I'm not saying Crameri's quicker, because to be honest I can't really recall Walker's pace being noteworthy either way (his endurance and repeated sprints are top notch, though), but it's pretty easy to, erm, well not realise, how quick Crameri is.

Particularly in those first 5-10 steps, he's got a really deceptive burst on him. He used it really well on Harry O in both games last year, from memory.

While I agree that BL's "every facet" remark was a bit strong, Crameri need have no problem with endurance, speed or agility; it's just that these, along with his leap, are probably Walker's most outstanding attributes. His mix of speed and endurance is probably the best among Carlton players. Shouldn't be taken as a slight against Crameri.

Walker has him covered for leap and kicking, but Crameri wins out on strength over the ball and contested situations. In other areas they're pretty similar.

Walker is a better goal kicker, there is no doubt. Crameri doesn't look like he will ever be a 50+ guy. However Crameri has skills that bring others into the game without him having to kick all that many.

I think Crameri works better for teams who have a couple of big key forwards, as he can be a really hard matchup when he gets the third or fourth defender. That works for Essendon, and would probably be good for sides like Geelong, Collingwood, Hawthorn, West Coast, etc.

Walker is better at getting a score on the board, and is much more suited for those sides where the goals come from a mixture of smalls - like Carlton, Hawks back in the Williams days, WB - or only one key forward - North, GC.

When/If Carlton works out their key forward structure then Walker will probably kick less goals, while I think Crameri might be able to match his 30-40 goal output no matter what side he is in.

Another question: Would these two be the best third marking talls of 2011?

Along with Ryan O'Keefe and Le Cras when not injured. Would probably be in the top few.

Last year Crameri was really playing as the second forward most the year, hopefully with Carlisle playing he will get the third defender and should do well.

I would take Walker though, I think he should have been AA last year.

I think Walker has him covered for speed and endurance as well, which may mean more time up the ground if he can play it well enough. Interesting on Walker's kicking, which was generally considered his biggest weakness before last year, goes to show how quickly somethings can can be turned around in footy.

I agree that Crameri wins out with strength over the ball and I think this translates to strength in marking contests as well. Walker's got a great leap and good mark, but I'd prefer Crameri one-out in a pack of three tbh. Has a bit of presence about him too, which is something Walker lacks for a guy his size.
