Another injury to St. Kilda ...

This has to be some kind of a record ...

I was commenting to my cousin (Saints fan), how disgraceful the Saints injuries have been over the past few years. But I think this takes the cake.

I hope the Saints training ground has no stairs? Knowing their luck, Luke Ball will trip down the stairs and be gone for the season.

Leigh Montagna has broken his jaw.

It is beyond a joke and it is not the fault of the fitness staff:

2 broken legs, 2 ACL's, 2 PCL's, a dislocated elbow, a fractured skull and 3 broken collarbones. And a broken jaw.

What gods did we offend ??

Baker is back from suspension this week, so we will have 24 players to choose from.

You are kidding, Montags one of the most underrated players in the AFL. Love the way he goes about it!!! Any idea how it happened??

I wonder how Mitchell is feeling after running into Gwilt... great bump.. but I'm tipping he is sore today!!!

Unbelievable! And I thought we were cursed. It might have been that DVD the Saints released, 'The Streak'...perhaps that might have offended the footy gods? ;)

I was chatting to a fellow fan today and we were discussing St Kildas injuries, especially soft tissue injuires and i made a point about St Kildas training facilities. Is moorabin a hard ground? Is it in good condition? Could it be the actual ground?

Maybe its time for the saints to find a newer training venue? Its just something i threw out in the open...b/c teams who train on the newer more plush grounds hardly have any injuries like the moorabin saints have!

I dunno just throwing some ideas around.

They spent $40,000 tearing up Moorabbin two years ago and re-did the base and top soil, and then seeded with the best sorts of grasses.

The players say it is superior to any AFL surface, and perhaps is closest to AAMI stadium in what it is like to train/play on.

So I can't see a problem with the surface.

Thanks for the info! ok well that throws that theory out the window then!

I refuse to buy that crap because any club that celebrates 10 wins in a row and doesn't win a Premiership that year is kidding itself. And before all the Saints fans jump all over me I love the Saints (Social Club and Footy club member) but we have to stop celebrating mediocrity, everyone laughs at us and iam pissed. Oh and this injury crap is really pissing me off as well FFS cant we take a trick every freaking week someone gets injured. I feel better now and am going to bed.

Dont feel too sorry for the saints

Saw X clarke carving up the dancefloor at CQ nightclub in Melbourne last night.

I absolutely fell over when I saw in the paper he was a late withdrawal from the game last night with a "virus".

Didnt realise hitting the piss with Andrew Krakouer, Raph Clarke and Andrew Lovett (who was on crutches on TV saturday, dirty dancing with women and WITHOUT crutches saturday night) must be a new word for "virus".

FRAUDS

ok my theory on why saints have become more injury prone..these reasons aren't reasons as such but might be contributing factors if you like to call it that?

Home venue..Telstra dome is small venue where collisions occur frequently..not much open space to work in. this smaller oval also tends to make players twist a lot more to get out of tight spots again this is hard to measure but i feel its a contributing factor

Saints play what I call contested footy..they kick to contests..which also heightens the risk of injuries Hayes and Riewoldt dont fear anything as to hamil

they have an aging list also and while many of the injured guys aren't old some are..ie Gardiners body is stuffed and So is Hamils and Gehrig is always carrying niggles and Thomson is in the veteran category

I don't think theres much of that you can actually change though...that added with bad luck its why it happens.

I know how you feel Saints fans, last year against Adelaide we had 24 players to choose from, but we got up to win. Sometimes the players really play for the injured players and step it up big time..I hope the Saints do well with who they have left, surely their luck can't get much worse.

again backs up theory the 3 most injury depleted teams from Victoria in the last 2 or 3 years all play at Telstra dome...Essendon, Bullies and Saints all play lost of games..remember 10 inches below the grass is a concrete car park roof.....
