Bored and thought I'd get the thoughts of others on if you could take any player in the league for free and put them into our current side who would it be and why.

I'd go Luke Hodge, Simply put I reckon if we could get a guy like Hodge we'd be a premiership shot. His so hard at it, breaks the lines taking guys with him. Is possibly the best user of the ball in the game atm. Adds everything we lack at A grade level. Elite user, Elite line breaker, Elite in and under ball winner. The fact that Hawthorn have the luxury of using him on the HBF is a joke.

I'd go Joel Selwood. He's a tough ball-winning mid who's a lot younger than the likes of Judd, Bartel, Black and Kerr -- so if he develops into the player I expect him to be, we'd have an elite contest-winning mid for 10+ years. And that's several years more service than we'd get out of the older options.

I think the youngsters from the blues would have had the same effect getting any elite mid. People forget they didn't just get Judd but they got
Stevens back too. All of a sudden Murphy goes from being the number 1mid to the 3rd mid and goes from getting the number one tag almost every week to not getting tagged at all.

This guys not quite in their stratosphere but I'd love Daniel Cross at Collingwood. No fuss tough in and under player who puts his head over the ball.

I know he can't kick, but he should fit in very nicely at Collingwood then

Cox, and no not our Cox, but West Coast Eagles ruckman Cox. Why is it that everyone seems to be of the same thinking as StKilda from earlier this century that if you have a gun midfield you do not need a great ruckman. That cost them at least 2 GF apearances, if not more.
Same as a great midfield make average forward look good, a great ruckman makes an average midfield look good.
However realistically, I want us to be chasing Jeff White this off season to releave Fraser as the first choice ruckman. I strongly believe that would make us a much better team.
