Howe is the only one I'd bring back in without a VFL game, but even then I'd prefer him to play one. I'm hoping that 2 or 3 of these guys play in the first VFL final and that we win the game so that we are still able to get games into the returnees.

Reckon anyone fit plays VFL this week. Even just a half. If they get through then we consider them.

I’m a big fan of Moore in defence but considering he would do a lot of chasing in this position, do we put him forward to Play out a game .

Has to play VFL first, and apparently he won’t this week. Desperately need him. But either way, I think he has to be fully fit to play either end.

I am of the opinion he has an extra weeks rest and comes straight in if he’s medically cleared. The extra week will be more beneficial for him. Unfortunately there’s no exact science as to when a hamstring could go. We can only back the judgement of the medical staff and if they say he’s right then go for it.

Yeah, I guess so. If the medical staff clear him.

Just play them all

This week in the vfl
Unfortunately we might be in the position whereby we have 3 guys running around on Sunday who are only going to play between 50% - 70% as we are trying to get them right for Saturday night. Our rotations will be shot and that will be the end of the VFL as a practice arena.

I guess if anyone is still out for the Eagles game, then they are unlikely to be returning via the VFL, or at all.

I don't think Treloar or Howe will benefit from a VFL hitout. They are fit, elite AFL players who were playing only a few weeks ago. If they are ready to play, they come straight back in.

Moore is in a different category and ideally you'd test him in the 2s. However, we desperately need him in the side due to our lack of KPDs. If fit, I think we roll the dice and hopefully he performs well enough to help earn himself and the team another week's rest.

I agree with this. All that can happen in the VFL is more injury.

I think they need to be let loose at training, participate in match simulations, and just do a lot of running. On the eve of finals, I wouldn't be risking 2 A Grade players in the VFL. Both played the majority of the year so have a good base of fitness already.

It's different for Goldsack, Reid and Moore. If these guys want to come in, they need to prove through the VFL this week. None of these guys have had any consistency this year and don't have the match fitness.

I reckon at this time of the year, we have to throw caution to the wind with Goldsack, Moore and Reid. No point building them up and giving them 50-70% match time.

They need to play 100% at full capacity. No point bubble wrapping them now. It's too late to be eased back in. If they can't prove their fitness, then we have made the top 4 without them anyway. SO we just stick with the players who have got us here.

I say play them all in the VFL this week and let them loose.

If Reid has been ruled out for the year, he hasn't been informed. He has been training solidly for a couple of weeks. Much has been made of Treloar's program, but Reid has been working hard.
I think Howe comes straight in for the Eagles. Treloar can be given another week as we have the double chance and that will suit him. He didn't look ready to my eyes last week.
Moore is the one I would give a lot of thought to. I don't think we can beat the Eagles without a Moore or perhaps a Goldsack.

Do we even bother with Reid if he's fit? Chuck Howe and Darcy back and I think our backline can cope.

He's a good player but I doubt he'd be able to run out the game. Treloar (QF), Howe (QF) and Moore (SF/PF) are musts in my opinion.

If the much slower VFL is too big a risk, I wouldn't consider them for an AFL final.

Hopefully Treloar and Howe are fit enough to play VFL this week, play well and help us win. We then knock off WCE with them contributing. Moore comes back in the second VFL final. We win that and thus Moore gets another VFL final before the Preliminary. Wishful thinking, but not beyond hope.

I'm hoping we don't need to call on Reid or Goldsack. If Moore and Howe are fit, we don't need Reid, who hasn't played defence for a while and hasn't played it well for years. Love the Sack, but when he's rusty, he's the fumbliest player in the AFL.

They have to have some game time and the best way is this weekend, tough about rotations
they need match fitness of some sort

He as of last week has been not ruled out so he a chance

Just one of Reid of Moore. Not both. That's enough risk.

The extra couple of weeks could be pretty handy. It'll give him an extra couple of weeks of strengthening exercises which should reduce risk of re-occurence.

I could have sworn it had the training info for friday on the official site, now the only one thats there was the perth training from last week.

I'm heading to training this morning, I usually go thursdays, but I was told it was on today.

How much should be strengthening vs flexibility? Could we have too much emphasis on first and not enough on latter?

I forget where, but someone on this board posted that we are training Wednesday and Friday this week.

There's a bit of talk of bringing our I injured players in through the VFL this week. But I think we need to be careful we don't compromise the VFL campaign as well. The longer we can stay in VFL finals the greater the benefit to our senior team. If a player cannot play a minimum of 75% game time in the VFL, then they shouldn't be considered.

Possibly. I have a mate who was a kickboxer and he swears by the benefits of increasing flexibility. I'm no expert though and for all we know the fitness and conditioning teams are doing all of that.
