Gibson have been offered more money to go to Carlton and trade talks have begun between the two clubs.

Gibson plus our 2nd and 3rd round pick for a player and Carlton's 1st round pick, I'm not 100% sure on the player, I believe it could be Grigg who the talks are around.

North have flatly refused to to talk to the Hawks.

The other interest is from Richmond for Hale, I believe no discussions on this have taken place at this stage. From what I'm told the deal will need to be pretty good for us to move Hale on.

Enquires have been made about Greenwood and Goldy but a no was given straight away

All good then, so far, especially the highlighted bit.

Not fussed with Grigg but I'm liking the direction we're heading if your report is true.

Elated with the last bit!

Spot on about the Blues. I posted the other day that they were making more ground than Hawthorn. Interested on your reports on the suggested deal. Don't know much about Grigg - what do you guys think?

As far as Richmond goes not sure what they could offer for Hale that we would want.

Wheres your source???

2 picks and gibson for a player and there first round pick and player- is that a fair deal?????

I reckon maybe gibson and 1 of our picks for there first pick is fair.

i wish Gibson go to Carlton and in 2010 when Dawks and Blues play, the result hinged on the the fact that Gibson against smothered Franklin and Blue win by 2 goals or something and i would like to see the faces on the Hawk president and fan then. Or even better the loss kills the hawk's final hope in 2010 and blues scraps in just.

gibson and our 2nd round sounds fair for a player (grigg) + their first round pick. Grigg is still very young and has a massive upside 2 him can play in defence and in the midfield. Was a NAB rising star nominee in 2008 must be doing something right. As for richmond im thinking a first round pick and a player at the very least

Is Grigg a tallish defender? Why would they want to get rid of him? Why would we want him? We want young midfielders and dangerous forwards.

I'll watch the Bullants game this weekend with renewed interest.

I like the fact that we ain't dealing with the treacherous dawks.:)

Yeah he is listed as being 190cm and 85kg has played 35games i think he would be a good get

Gibson plus our 2nd and 3rd pick for Marc Murphy (supported north as a kid right?)

Euge make it happen.

Radical, I hate to say it again but you are going to have to do something about the grammar, mate!

I love the endeavour and understand the thrust of the Post (I think) but it is almost unreadable.

You write like a recruit in his first game, who at the 10 minute mark of the first quarter, has given away half a dozen frees and three 50 metre penalties.

One of the more plausible and fair trades regarding Gibson i've seen floated.

Both clubs would be happy with that you'd think.

Carlton get : Gibson, 2nd round pick, 3rd round pick
North Melbourne get : 1st round pick, Grigg

Liked what I have seen from Grigg and a little bit puzzled why Carlton would get rid of him?

Sounds like a fair deal in principle. Our 3rd Round Pick sounds like no great loss in this draft anyway.

Why is there general acceptance (in this thread) that Carlton would trade their first round pick in any Gibbo deal? I would think that they wouldn't be keen to do so, just like Hawthorn.

Because like Hawthorn they see the timing is right to try and push for a flag. With their defence being so suspect they are never going to be a real threat, so Gibbo would help strengthen that area.

Pick 11 could take 2-3 years to develop and in that time an opportunity may have passed them by.

Also Carlton have a very young list, so kids would not be a huge priority. They may have looked at the draft and decided that a player like Gibbo who could slot straight in, is of more value than any of the potential draft prospects.

On the other hand we have time to develop the player who we would take with Pick 11 as we are still a few years away from being a serious challenger.

Grigg is not a defender he is a tall midfielder.

I would love to get Grigg and would be very happy with a straight swap for Gibson.

Good answer!

Sounds like both clubs could benefit from this trade. A young midfielder for us and a quality defender for Carlton.

If its true that Carlton have offered more money, I can't see a valid reason for Gibbo not wanting to go there.

Looks like the Hawks dream of Pick 25 for Gibbo would be shattered if this is close to the mark?

I'm sure if both clubs are working on this, Pelchen will be greeted with Pick 9 or **** off mate!, on Monday 5 October 2009

They are probably the only club that would not mind giving up their first round pick , they've had enough of those to last a life time in recent years .

What they do need is an established defender , so they can play Waite as a permanent CHF next year .

No interest in Grigg here , not that he's a bad player , i just don't think he will be that great either .

Let's leave Grigg out of it for a minute - it could be just an example. We'd be left with something like picks 5 and 11 followed by 55 and so on. Is that a good position to be in? If we gave our 2nd and 3rd rounders away, we'd probably look at trading back into those rounds by trading blokes like Harris, Jones or Power.

Can't say I am a big Grigg fan but hard to tell when he plays as a depth midfielder.

They have so many high draft picks from recent years that maybe they don't value them like other clubs? Did they get burned with the Yarran pick last year? I don't know the answers but it looks too good to be true from our side of the fence. I'd like to hear a Carlton perspective. (Did I just say that?)
