He lacks the strength to play as a key forward and lacks the tank to play as a flanker. He has weakness in his game that doesn’t make him lazy.
Yes, but he can still tackle. He can still exert physical pressure on defenders and/or opponents. He can still run & present & not just once but repeatedly every quarter & so try to tire out his opponent/s. I think that a few training sessions one-on-one with Dermot. Goodnight & good luck.

Oh boy, now it's becoming a virtue signalling contest. AJ just needs to find a bit of mongrel, he's not lazy, he's more lacking in confidence
He's got really bad recovery. He's like an inexperienced tennis player who stands there watching his shot rather than moving back into position.

Was dropped, played one game in VFL, rushed back in before he was probably ready then kicks 3, kicks 3 the week after as well then is dropped again. Comes back last week and plays poorly like almost everyone else and is now dropped once again.

For a player who is lacking consistency just seems a really poor way to manage him and his confidence.

Should never have been dropped, and now is being given a very verOn his returny short leash. Feels mighty harsh
But he also shouldn't have come back in either. On his return, he had a couple of games where he hit the scoreboard, but they weren't exactly fantastic displays worthy of keeping out a returning Checkers or McStay - who just quietly is looking pretty good. They had a crack at trying to squeeze him back in, but it didn't look good in terms of the impact on either the ruck, his impact on the forward line or McStay being moved out of the forward line for a decent chunk of the game. To hold his spot, he's got to become one of our best two tall forwards. He's not. So they've gone a different option. Fair enough if you ask me.

I view it the other way. It's become impossible to have a conversation relating to racism or have someone suggest that something could be stereotyping without people coming from everywhere to declare a comment said by someone else that they don't know to be definitely not racist in any way shape or form. How the * does everyone know? Did I miss out when they were delivering telepathic mind reading machines?
I've reread this a number of times. I'd like one of those telepathic thingies, to work out what you are saying. It is off topic, happy to take it somewhere else but interested in what you are actually getting at. I see it reasonable to question whether calling AJ lazy is racial stereotyping. That is a point of discussion. I object to assuming it is. It creates taboos around terms and groups of people. We are not educating by this trend, we are alienating.

That's my point and I agree with it. I just also object to assuming its not.

I'm trying to suggest that those jumping in with "It's defiinitely not racist. Or definitely not racial stereotyping. PC rubbish. Etc." don't actually know whether it is or not. I view it as the other side of the same coin to those jumping in with "It's definitely racist." And I think the "It's definitely not racist" side of the coin is more heavily weighted.

Whether we realise it or not - we all stereotype to a degree and respond differently to a women in a burqa to a women in western dress, or any other cultural marker there is. And anyone who truly doesn't, is cultrurally ignorant and doesn't show any cultural understanding. The whole he's racist, he's not racist is bollocks. It's a spectrum and we're all somewhere on it and should be striving to be at the lower end of it. But there can't be any conversations to help us be at the lower end - not just because of the "That's racist PC" crew, but also because of the even more prolific "that's not racist" crew.

Thanks for your reply. I agree. I think discussion is key to moving forward, concerned the current trend is to label rather than incite discussion but, yeah, kudos.

Mature age recruit. Needs to play with a bit more maturity , understand he was dropped after 3 goals . Dont forget he was bought in on the back of an average vfl game where he made a fool of himself

You can try to phrase it anyway you like he is lazy it doesn't take talent to tackle and chase or to have repeat efforts that's the want to do it and right now you watch him on the field and he shirks it

Ash strikes me as a player with an abundance of natural talent, but of course, that only gets you so far. you have to do the work, and you have to have the burning desire to do whatever it takes. Now we will find out if he has that in him as well.

It's interesting that some posters jump on Ash's second efforts in the forward fifty yet its okay for Ginni and Cox to be withches hats in the same part of the ground.

What I like about McRae is that he is willing to tinker by changing the formula from week to week.

Please note - I'm not having a crack at either Ginni or Cox, they have different strengths which they bring to CFC's forward line like Ash does. For example Ginni was instrumental with his one touch skills around the forward fifty last night at important times in the game.

I thought Ginnivan provided plenty of pressure last night

I’m spewin.
I was so keen to see Johnno in the team and doing so well.
I thought he could be a weapon.
But, with the pressure, he’s wilted. The gig was his and he fkd it up.
Footballers live for these opportunities. If he just lets it float away, I reckon he’s not up to it.
Sad.
