It makes no sense. Why couldn't an all-powerful and loving God just forgive sins without going through all this sacrifice bullshit in the first place?
What you find if you look into it closely enough is that Christianity is a mashing together of at least two different religions into one compromise religion that tries to include everyone. The price for that is the overall theology doesn't make logical sense.

He's a death god and christianity is a death religion, once you get past all the lovely trappings. They can talk all they like about peace and love and goodness, but in the end when you walk into a church what you see is glorified pain and suffering, elongated via a torture device, into an ignoble death.

Death is the word.
We are all going to die. That is the only certainty in any discussion..
HAVING SEEN MANY PEOPLE COME TO GOD AT THE TIME CLOSE TO THEIR DEATH, IT IS CLEAR THAT THERE IS IN MOST HUMANS, A FEAR OF DEATH.
Christians generally do not fear death. It is the chance to discover if this faith was worth it, to escape the indignities of human life as we know it.
We are not obsessed by death, or going around hanging crap on those who don't believe, but it is in our calling to at least try and communicate with those on our walk of life the reality of whay Christ has done in our lives and what God means to us.
Take it or leave it.
We know there always has been derision, always will be.
It is part of the walk with Christ that we expect.
But if just one questioning person here on this thread, or elsewhere in life, takes his own questions that step further and discovers the truth for himself, that is great.
That is all we can hope for.
I know that those who genuinely seek God will find him.

That is debatable. Christians wrote their Gospels with clear purposes in mind - one of which was that their Messiah (at that time one of many messiahs) would be seen as the "true" Messiah because he fulfilled OT prophecy. (Matthew 16:13-20, Mark 8:27–30 and Luke 9:18–20 ).SO they write their gospels accordingly.
Jesus did not rise from the dead. There is no evidence for such, irrespective of any belief by faith that he did. They are merely unsupported claims. As there are for many other claims about other historical and semi-historical figures. The supposed heavenly ascension of Mohammed is a good example.

That's the essence of Christianity. He defeated death for us, to allow us to come to Him . I don't fight the absurdity of it . Too many amazing people have had real life changing conversions. You seem hung-up by Catholicism.

Nobody in this life is going to be able to reproduce it or put it to the test. A real human life crucified. Then resurrected and returns to impart The Great Commission to all subsequent believers.

I have faith because I want to, that's true. But my intellect does not allow me to believe that mankind and human life evolves from whatever the latest theory is. I believe we have a conscience that separates us from animals and everything else, and the more we rely on ourselves, the bigger the fall. Believing in God is easy for me. The Christianity part is challenging, but my personal experience points to reality, that has stood the test of time- 38 years now, and in reality, I believes as a child.

There is absolutely no robust supporting evidence that Jesus was resurrected. That he was is merely an unsubstantiated claim believed in only by faith.

Your 'intellect' somehow allows you to choose a belief for which there is no evidence at all, while at the same time rejecting scientific fact for which there is a mountain of robust supporting evidence cross a vast array of scientific fields.

You've not answered my question. Sacrifice is defined as:
... in the Cambridge dictionary. If Jesus didn't die, how is there any sacrifice at all as he has not surrendered anything, let alone something of value? If Jesus did die but was raised from the dead, are you saying that the entire burden of human sin going backwards and forwards through time is worth 72 hours?
How does Jesus' resurrection not undermine the notion of sacrifice is the question I'm asking. How does Jesus being confiscated for misbehaving with our savior for three days amount to him sacrificing anything at all?
Or - for the purposes of this argument - was God dead for those three days? Because that would be an awesome theological argument to make, and would actually provide weight to the sacrifice made.
