Yes, but when you have innocently made a "mistake" (I say "mistake" because how is getting out of your car really that bad) and they over react like that, it can really make an impression on you. The cop, after he had calmed down, didn't even want to listen to an explanation or even acknowledge he was from out of town and didn't know the "rules".
I know they have a dangerous job over there but some of them need a little lesson in risk assessment. A 50 year old guy reaching into the back pocket of his jeans for his wallet whilst saying "I've got my licence in my back pocket officer" (or at least trying to while he was being yelled at) doesn't seem like the greatest risk to me.
They have to treat each situation on its merits, not a one size fits all.
Try explaining all that to a constable who had his jaw blown off this morning in Adelaide while responding to a triple murder.
RIP those souls involved, horrible stuff.

Lets hope so, but looking at the footage, he was arrested calmly by the STAR.I do believe star group would have given the perp a jolly good rogering![]()

In America he would have had his skull bashed in. My point is surfacing out of this shocking incident. I would have shoved my gun up his ar** and pulled the trigger. But that would lower me to his scumness.
Tell me, how brave do you think you would be without the authority of the state at your back?
Personally, I have more respect for someone that puts their well being on the line for others without recieving a pay packet to do it.
Now, that's a real hero for you.
I know that all of the details haven't fully been released yet, but if you are responding to an emergency where shots have been fired, being in the open with no cover doesn't seem like the brightest idea. Maybe they were ambushed getting out of their cop car, who knows. But it does seem like someone screwed up there.Try explaining all that to a constable who had his jaw blown off this morning in Adelaide while responding to a triple murder.

On a semi-related note, a reporter on channel Ten made this startling claim - "the police were ambushed by surprise..." As opposed to the ambush where the person lets you know that he's going to jump out and attack you in a minute and then goes back to his hiding spot?
Who puts there well being on the line without a pay packet ? And puts their lives in danger, day in day out. Without goverment backing. Who ? and why would they do this ?
You tell me.
And in adding, how much respect do you have for police ?
lets see you live your comfortable life without them.
If the police only imposed laws that the population supported, along with certain guarantees on individual rights, then they would have my complete unwavering support and respect.
When are you going to pick up your bat & ball and go home?
Or at least to your block in the scrub suitable for fancy irrigating and no bitumen roads nearby?
Perhaps you need to address your own personal issues as to why my posting (which is within the rules) distresses you?
Why would that be a problem?
Are you suggesting that technological pursuits and a happy life would be non existent without the westminster system and it's enforcement arm?
Don't flatter yourself rookie
You're a flights of fantasy type where any mores are to be treated as an invasion of privacy.
Good luck with that
Bigfooty membership years raise your IQ?
I'm happy for you to present an intelligent rebuttal whenever you like. What parts of my posts are untrue?

It's a dangerous job, but there are ways to keep yourself safe for the most part.

Here's a website that has live Police radio frequencies world wide......
http://www.radioreference.com/
It's legal but I don't know how the website does it.........it certainly is interesting stuff to listen to.
Agreed. Some are absolute w*nkers just because you are not looked at as a perfect citizen. Even just walking home friday or saturday nights they are dicks. Have never came across a good cop yet for a few different things. That's not really true. In most states police have a lot of discretionary powers these days for preemptive searches, and they use them. My brother and I are similar ages, both quiet respectful law abiding citizens, very similar in manner etc. I have never been bothered by the police. He is frequently hassled and occasionally searched, on public transport and elsewhere - a number of times when I've been with him.
Why? I'm a buttoned down, straight-arrow lawyer and look it. He's a ska musician with piercings, tattoos and fashion sense to match.
Police are mostly reasonable blokes, but profiling happens.
Know a mate who got pinged $100 and 1 demerit for driving with fog lights on, i mean seriously
