One of the great ironies of this rally is the people talking about “a fair go” as being integral to Australian culture.

How is saying that certain people should be denied the opportunities that others have because they were born elsewhere, a factor that no one has any control over, in anyway consistent with the values of fairness?

“Mateship” is supposedly integral to Australian culture. Yet here we are having a protest about not wanting the family down the road to move in because they might be a bit different. How is that in anyway consistent with a cultural value built around helping each other out?

Before anyone tries to argue it’s about cost of living or housing affordability, why are they not protesting for better support for renters, more funding for public education, more funding for Medicare, tax reform to better support the middle and working class? They’re focussing on immigration because having a white Australia is what they want.

“Mateship” and “a fair go” are really universal tenets of kindness and community that exist in all cultures. I’ve travelled to many cultures and been shown hospitality and compassion in majority Muslim nations for instance.

I assume Mr.white breads taste buds are offended by a quality vindaloo. So in his analogy the local fish and chip joint (probably run by a migrant family anyway) being next door to an Indian restaraunt is ****ing up his internal decorator spirit.
